Friday Night Live

thanks volunteers

To the Editor:

Tuolumne County's Friday Night Live staff would like to thank the many community members who made this year's Challenge Days possible. Tuolumne County's Friday Night Live runs through the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency.

Challenge Day is a full-day, school-based program that engages up to 100 students to address issues around bullying, substance abuse, stereotyping, genderism, and racism. This program has been graciously funded through Tuolumne County's Behavioral Health Department. This year, four Tuolumne County schools participated: Soulsbyville Elementary, Summerville Elementary, Summerville High School and Twain Harte Elementary. For every 4-5 students, the program requires 1 adult to participate as a "family group" leader. These adults go through a briefing by Challenge Day staff and de-brief at the completion of the day, as well as participate just as the students are asked to throughout the program.

Over 100 community members were a part of the success of this year's Challenge Days. This very high-energy and vulnerable program is a huge undertaking and it could not be fulfilled without the many adults who generously volunteer their whole day to the cause of our youth. We thank you!
