Mother Lode Christian Pageant

To the Editor:

"The Great Christmas Giveaway," under the direction of Laura Brinegar was performed last week at the Mother Lode Christian School.

Christmas carols were sung, the third grade recorder ensemble played a melody of Christmas songs, and the entire school performed a very memorable event.

All who attended were reminded of the true meaning of Christmas.

Redeployment of our Veterans

To the Editor:

Christmas Day, as I recline and view the fuss of Christmas on the boob tube, I channel surfed to those Iraqi veterans re-deployed to the longest war in U.S. history. This was a wake up call … what are we doing? What eloquent rhetoric allowed/caused us to become the planet's policeman? Does the world share our interventionist views on policing our planet? A love of country demands we adhere to the founding tenants of the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Its application is for our citizens - not foreigners. Our Creator gave us through Christ the parable of seeds; some flourish, some struggle and many just die. C'est la vie. We have soiled our status worldwide with military interventionism. Right now, magically, electronic intervention (media, news, Web information) already exceeds our military efforts in supporting 'Inalienable Rights' globally. Quantum leaps in information is now more effective than warfare. Let's bomb them with Hersey bars and hamburgers. Let's get out now! Give the world a Christmas present, bring our children home.
