Obama statue

To the Editor:

I would like to thank both Marcy Flores and Diane Doddridge for their Sept. 9 letters to the editor regarding the racist yard art on Phoenix Lake Road. I too was very offended and shocked by this display of disrespect. My husband and I have recently moved to Sonora and I am so happy to know that this community will speak up up against racism.

The Nevada

IHOP Incident

To the Editor:

This is a copy of a letter I sent to the Carson City Appeal Newspaper regarding the shooting at the Carson City IHOP.

On my return from an RV trip east I stayed at the Gold Dust RV Park in Carson City on the Aug. 31 and stopped at the Carson City IHOP restaurant the next morning for breakfast. It's too bad for those 11 innocent souls that I (and my licensed carry gun) wasn't there when this nutcase came in, as there might have been a different outcome to the situation.

Of course, the anti-second ammendment liberals would have found a way to put me in trouble, but maybe some of those 11 would still be alive to be on my jury? Just a thought.

Obama's spending

To the Editor:

Spending more money we don't have? When you look at our president's latest $447 billion spending plan which he promises will help our economy, remember he also promised to get us out of war and fix the economy with his prior stimulus spending plan. Did it happen? While deep in debt, how can we spend more money? Could you run your household this way? Maybe for a short time. Keep up the good work Union Democrat.

Twain Harte

Twin Towers collapse

To the Editor:

What if the majority of what we've been told about 9/11 is not true?

In the 10 years since 9/11, scientific evidence that points to controlled demolition as the cause for the collapse of the Twin Towers and Building 7 has been mounting. Over 1,500 architects and engineers at AE911Truth.org have signed a petition demanding a new investigation into the destruction of these buildings because the initial investigation was not adequate. The 9/11 Commission's own chairmen, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, stated the Commission was "set up to fail." Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission, John Farmer, Jr., wrote that the US government made "a decision not to tell the truth about what happened." Accepting the idea that we have been lied to is an enormous pill to swallow, but without the truth, I fear our nation will not know peace.

Offensive statue

To the Editor:

The racist statue on Phoenix Lake Road is very offensive. I still have the newspaper announcing Obama's election - it was a very proud day for America. It is people like this statue's creator who are trying to destroy our great country. Shame on you.
