Donald Edward Grant

Dec. 20, 1932 - June 12, 2014

Donald Edward Grant, a longtime Columbia resident, passed away on June 12, 2014, in Walnut Creek, Calif. Don was 81.

Born in Sonora on Dec. 20, 1932, he was the only child of Frederick Crawford Grant and Effie May (Hill) Grant. Don graduated from Sonora Union High School in 1950. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served with honor for two years.

Returning to California, Don worked for the State Division of Forestry as a Foreman II and was a Ranger II with the California State Parks system when he retired.

Don lived in Concord with his wife Marianne, who preceded him in death on May 23, 2014.

Don leaves behind his sons, Steve Grant and Jeff Grant; their wives, Dianne Grant and Charisse Grant; his daughter, Lori Bradley, with her husband Mark Bradley; and his stepson, David Qullisie and his wife Colleen Qullisie.

Don had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Church of the 49ers in Columbia.

RUYBALID - Gilbert "Gil" Ruybalid Sr., 87, of Sonora, died Wednesday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SHARON -A visitation for Winston "Gene" Gene Sharon, 72, of Twain Harte, who died June 30 at his home, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m., both will be held at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. Burial with veterans honors will follow at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery, 22394 Lyons Bald Mountain Road. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
