Jessica Anne Fredrick
August 26, 1992 - May 31, 2014
Jessica Anne Fredrick, 21, of Los Angeles, left this earth to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1992, in Sonora to Bernie and Rhonda (Freiley) Fredrick.
Jessica is the younger of two daughters and grew up as best of friends with her older sister Emily (Fredrick) Lucas. They both attended grade school at Belleview Elementary and Curtis Creek Elementary in Sonora, Lodi middle and high schools in Lodi, Wis., and college at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Jessica was a senior at UCLA pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in communications; was an officer and active member of the ADX Christian Sorority, worked with UCLA Athletic Marketing and interned at "Della LA." She was active in a variety of artistic pursuits that included music, photography, painting, singing and most of all dancing. Jessica started dance lessons at the tender age of 3 and continued to pursue her love of dance her entire life. She enjoyed all types of dance: jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, ballet and her favorite style, contemporary. Despite significantly reduced lung function caused by her cystic fibrosis, she continued to dance, performing most recently in the Synthesis Showcase on May 4.
Jessica was a true inspiration to her family and friends. She took on the challenges of living with the debilitating effects of CF throughout her life, while always maintaining a positive attitude. As a young woman she reaffirmed her personal relationship with Jesus through baptism. She shared the love she received by the way she lived her life, taking every opportunity to introduce others to the power and saving grace of Jesus.
She is survived by her paternal grandmother, Mildred Fredrick of Watertown, Wis.; maternal grandmother, Abbie Freiley, of Fort Worth, Texas; parents, Bernie and Rhonda Fredrick of Tustin, Calif.; sister, Emily (Fredrick) Lucas and her brother-in-law Adam Lucas, of Grand Junction, Colo.; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many close friends.
Jessica was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Clarence Fredrick and her maternal grandfather, Ronald Freiley.
A celebration of life service will be held in her honor at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, in the worship center at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora, with a reception immediately following the service at the outdoor pavilion on the church property.
Death Notices in The Union Democrat are published free of charge. They include the name, age and town of residence of the deceased, the date of death; service information; and memorial contribution information. The deadline is noon the day before publication.
