Manlio John Micheletti
April 8, 1930 - May 7, 2014
Mel Micheletti died peacefully on May 7, 2014, in the presence of family in his home in Los Altos Hills, where he resided for 53 years.
Mel Micheletti is survived by his brother, Art Micheletti; his wife of 62 years, Lorna Micheletti; and their six children, Dave Micheletti, Diane Stevenson, John Micheletti, Rob Micheletti, Joane job and Jim Micheletti. Mel and Lorna endured the loss of their son, Paul Micheletti, in 1991. He was 32 years old at the time. Additionally, Mel and Lorna have 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mel graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1949 and remained faithful to the "Bells" his entire life. He is in the Bellarmine Hall of Fame with many years of service in the Dad's Club and on the board of trustees. He attended Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco. He owned and operated Micheletti Insurance in San Jose, Calif., which he bequeathed to his sons, Dave, Rob and John.
Mel was known for his generosity and loyalty. He contributed lavishly to a number of charities and was a lifelong 49er fan going back to Kezar Stadium. More recently he was known for leading large groups of fans to "The Stick.'" For years he vacationed in Twain Harte, sharing the Micheletti cabin with countless friends and family. He and Lorna traveled much of the world together.
A funeral service for Mel Micheletti will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Bellarmine College Preparatory. Mel had a special affinity for the people of Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Palma School Campus Ministry, where Jim Micheletti serves as the Co-Director of the Blessed Edmund Rice Society. This group of students and parents build homes in Tijuana, Mexico, every year. M. Monica Ward
May 31, 1929 - May 9, 2014
M. Monica Ward passed away at home surrounded by her family members on the evening of May 9, 2014. A resident of Sonora for the past 22 years, Monica was born in Otisco, N.Y. on her father's farm. After graduating from Tully High School in 1946, she met and married James Ward on June 6, 1953. They had six children - Daniel, Christopher, Brian, Patrick, Bridget and Catherine.
In Sonora, she was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, YLI, Divine Mercy Group, and Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and sisters from the upstate New York area.
Monica is survived by her husband, Jim (at Avalon in Sonora) and six children mentioned above, plus her 18 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Monica's name to the Alzheimers Foundation or the Lupus Foundation of America.
A vigil Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday, followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Sonora. A reception will follow the Mass and burial at St. Patrick's Parish Center.
