Florence Marie McIntyre Huggins
Aug. 7, 1934 - April 6, 2014
Florence Marie McIntyre Huggins went to be with our Lord on April 6, 2014, at Sonora Regional Medical Center in Sonora.
Born Aug. 7, 1934, in the Philippines, Florence lived there during the time of the Japanese occupation in World War II. In 1946, her father gained passage for the family to the United States and they settled in San Francisco.
Florence raised her children in San Jose, in close proximity to her family. While married to Frank Huggins, Florence lived in several other states; she returned to California and in 2003 she moved to Jamestown to be close to her daughters.
Florence had a talent for knitting; she began by making blankets then ventured into knitting slippers for family members and friends. She branched out into crocheting and perfected her hand at doilies, pot holders, pillows, even stuffed animals. In her later years she discovered the art of hanger beautification and produced many colorful and sturdy hangers. As generous with her crafts as she was with her love, family and friends would become the recipients of Florence's crafting efforts.
Her favorite pastime was being with family, but during quiet times she enjoyed reading
or watching sci-fi shows such as "SG1," "Star Trek" and many more. Her grandson renamed her "Zoms" after watching "Enemy Mine" with her.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, she attended Christian Heights church; where she enjoyed spending time worshipping the Lord and being in fellowship with her church family.
Florence is survived by her eight children: Brian McIntyre, Desiree Crain, Colleen Klein, Arthur McIntyre, Sean McIntyre, Blaine McIntyre, Joseph McIntyre and Roxanne McIntyre; 14 grandchildren: Blaine Jr., Christopher, Jacob, James, Jase, Jessica, Jordan, Joseph Jr., Keith, Kimberly, Lacey, Leah, Lucas and Nicholas; 14 great-grandchildren; Ausionee, Austin, Brady, Chauncey, Cody, Emilee, Emmalyn, Hailey, Hayden, Jeran, Joseph, Kalli, Makayla and Tanner; five sisters and one brother: Evelyn Stewart, Nancy Rodrigues, Norma Cruz, Virginia Dette, Mary Ann Garner and Ted Albright; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Angeles Albright; and her sister, Jane Holthouser.
Though our hearts are full of sorrow at the loss of our beloved mom, our hope is in the reunion we will have with her in heaven. We love you mom.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Christian Heights Church and is open to family and friends; potluck to follow.
