Mary June 'Butchie' (Haddican) Colombini

June 20, 1927 - Sept. 16, 2013

Pine Mountain Lake resident Mary June "Butchie" (Haddican) Colombini died Sept. 16 at her daughter's home in Pine Mountain Lake. She was 86.

Mrs. Colombini was born in Tecumseh, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Clara (Nix) Haddican.

She married John B. Colombini in 1945 and they lived in rural Fresno until his death in 1961.

She worked as a bookkeeper for car dealerships in Reno, Nev., for several years before settling in San Jose in the 1970s. She worked in office administration for Heublein Corp. in Menlo Park.

She retired to Pinole in 1994 and lived there for 18 years before settling in Pine Mountain Lake six months ago.

Mrs. Colombini was involved with the AARP and a senior center in Pinole.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Colombini was preceded in death by her siblings, Frances "Pepper" Clark, James E. Haddican and Blanche L. Kuhl; and son, Robert E. Colombini on Sept. 1.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Connie and Dennis Scott, of Groveland, John R. and Venus Colombini, of Groveland, and Sam D. and Anita Colombini, of Sparks, Nev.; grandchildren, David Scott, Steven Scott, Shon Colombini, Michele Colombini, Ashlee Colombini, Brian Colombini and Daly Colombini; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews, including niece, Stacie Selmi, who helped care for her before her death.

Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice of the Sierra, 20100 Cedar Road North, Sonora, CA 95370.

No service is planned.

Vivien Laura(Brandt) Edwards

Feb. 10, 1926 - Sept. 15, 2013

Copperopolis resident Vivien Laura (Brandt) Edwards died Sept. 15 at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of Geraurde and Gertrude Brandt.

She worked as a secretary to the head auditor at the General Telephone Co. for a couple years.

She met Royal Edwards in 1947 while attending Seattle Pacific University. They married on Dec. 6, 1950. Shortly after, Mr. Edwards left to serve in combat in Korea.

After his return two years later, they settled in Southern California. Mr. Edwards served as a pastor at five different churches in Southern California and Phoenix, Ariz., in 20 years.

Mrs. Edwards served as the churches' secretary.

She and her husband, over the course of 12 years, traveled to 106 churches throughout the U.S. and Canada presenting a nine-day illustrated program.

They built a house in Mountain Ranch in 1989 and settled in Copperopolis in March 2005.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her brother, Marlin Brandt.

She is survived by husband, Royal Edwards, of Copperopolis; daughters, Karen Moffit, of Roseville, Marlene George, of Portland, Ore., Laurel Williams, of Prescott, Ariz., and Christine Stolts, of Boulder, Colo.; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lake Tulloch Bible Church, 3566 Spangler Lane, Copperopolis.

Eaton Family Funeral Services in Modesto is handling arrangements.

Philip Craig Evans

Oct. 26, 1942 - Oct. 6, 2013

Columbia resident Philip Craig Evans died Oct. 6 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was 70.

Mr. Evans was born in Manteca, the son of Brown and Faye Evans, and lived there until settling in Columbia 40 years ago.

Mr. Evans was a carpenter and iron worker for 30 years.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Jean Evans, of Columbia; and his daughters, Shelley Suchman, of Modesto, and Kelley Bevier, of Olive Branch, Miss.

No services are planned.

Linda (Higgins)Garrison

March 13, 1940 - Oct. 14, 2013

Mountain Ranch resident Linda (Higgins) Garrison died Monday at her home. She was 73.

Mrs. Garrison was born in Woodland to Sidney Arnold Higgins and Madeline Marie (Morris) Higgins.

She attended Sacramento State University and was a homemaker for the past 43 years.

She settled in Mountain Ranch 42 years ago, when her husband was transferred to the area as part of his work with the California Highway Patrol.

Mrs. Garrison enjoyed studying genealogy.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years and former Calaveras County Sheriff, Fred Garrison Jr., of Mountain Ranch; sons, Fred Garrison III, of El Dorado Hills, and Justin Garrison and his wife, Jamie, of Scotts Valley; and three grandchildren.

Private family services and inurment will be held at a later date.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
