Richard Allen Hubbard Jr.

June 4, 1954 - Sept. 2, 2013

Calaveras County part-time resident Richard Allen Hubbard Jr. died Sept. 2 at John Mayer Hospital in Walnut Creek. He was 59.

Mr. Hubbard was born in Berkeley, the son of Janis and Richard Allan Hubbard Sr.

He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School.

He owned Quality Roofing Co. in Pleasant Hill. He lived in Lafayette.

He enjoyed camping and spending time at his vacation homes in Arnold and Murphys.

Mr. Hubbard is survived by his mother, Janis Strattan, of Murphys; his sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Pierce Power, of Mount Hood, Ore.; brothers and sister-in-law, Steven and Kristy Hubbard, of Martinez, and David and Yasmin Hubbard, of Clearlake; his stepsister and brother-in-law, Jean and Gill Noennick, of San Jose; his stepbrother, Gaar Strattan, of Vail, Colo.; and nine nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at Mr. Lucky's in Pleasant Hill.

George Duda

Nov. 12, 1923 - Sept. 26, 2013

Murphys resident George Duda died Thursday at his home. He was 89.

Mr. Duda was born in Lorain, Ohio, the son of John and Victoria Duda.

He served in the U.S. Navy

He owned a construction company in Murphys for the past 50 years. During that time, his company built residential and commercial buildings

Mr. Duda was a philanthropist who enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was also a supporter of the Highway 4 Corridor.

He also enjoyed building boats.

Mr. Duda was preceded in death by first wife, Ann (Cicka) Duda, and his second wife, Anne (Pecchenino) Duda.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dianne and Barry Wood, of Liberty Lake, Wash., Georgeanne and Dan Castle, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Gary and Krista Duda, of Arnold; stepdaughter, Paula Broglio, of Angels Camp, grandchildren, Garry Markquart, of Anchorage, Brad Markquart, of Spokane, Wash., Michelle Britain, of Spokane, Aaron Duda, of Eureka, Matt Duda, of Napa, Heather Castle, of Anchorage, Ashley Ladegard, of Anchorage, and Christopher Castle, of Anchorage; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Angels Memorial Chapel, 1071 S. Main St., Angels Camp. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Murphys, 619 Sheep Ranch Road. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Murphys.

A potluck reception will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Angels Gun Club, 2403 Gun Club Road, Angels Camp.

Thelma (Neal) Jackson

Feb. 26, 1926 - Sept. 24, 2013

Jamestown resident Thelma (Neal) Jackson died Sept. 24 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Jena, La., the daughter of Brazzie and Ransom Neal.

She lived in Southern California and worked in the clerical and billing department of Westinghouse for many years.

Mrs. Jackson lived in Oregon for a couple years before settling in Tuolumne County in 1971.

She also worked as a skincare consultant for Jafra Cosmetics.

She was a seamstress and member of the Sonora Baptist Church, where she was in charge of decorations and church flowers.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson Sr., in 1997.

She is survived by her children, Judy Johnson-Howell, of Jamestown, James H. Jackson, of Henderson, Nev.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

William A. Wilson

Aug. 6, 1922 - Sept. 15, 2013

Sonora resident William A. Wilson died Sept. 15 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 91.

Mr. Wilson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the son of Alexander and Jean Wilson, natives of Scotland.

He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, where he was stationed along the coast of British Columbia and Alaska. He crewed on a B-24 liberator and PBY amphibious aircrafts.

He moved to San Leandro in 1961, where he worked for State Electric Supply in Oakland for 24 years.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed working on his cabin in Mi-Wuk Village for a number years. He also enjoyed building wooden World War II planes and sailing ships, and raising finches.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Stella Fuller, Margaret Campbell, and Wilma Whiffin.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Wilson and his wife, Colleen, of Tuolumne, and Sandra Trube, of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Chad Trube, of Las Vegas, Robert Wilson, of the Sacramento area, Stephanie Wilson, of the Sacramento area, and Tarra Trube, of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews in the British Columbia area.

A private interment will be held at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne.

HALPIN - A memorial service for Robert L. Halpin, of Sonora, who died Thursday at his home, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. A burial will be held at Mountain Shadow Cemetery. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

IVES - Beverly Ives, 95, of Sonora, died Saturday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

JOHNSON - Patricia "Pat" Johnson, 78, of Sonora, died Monday at her home in Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MOORE - James R. Moore, 67, of Twain Harte, died Friday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SPERLING - Herbert Sperling, 83, of Sonora, died Sunday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

SWEAR - Audrey Swear, 98, of Jamestown, died Sunday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
