Mary (Gillette) Anderson

Sonora resident Mary (Gillette) Anderson died Sept. 12 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Berkeley to Benjamin McFarland and Ida Stockfish.
She married Gilbert Anderson in Southern California in 1944 and was a homemaker for 66 years.
She was a member of the Wednesday Quilting Bee and enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Anderson, in 1992.
She moved from San Diego to Sonora in 1999.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Jordan, of Sonora, and Barbara Rude, of San Diego; grandchildren, Jeremy Rude, of Denver, Colo., Joshua Rude, of Phoenix, Ariz., Natalie Jordan, of Libertyville, Ill., and Mike Jordan, of North Highlands; and six great-grandchildren.
No service is planned.

Mary Celestia (Koetz) Burdick

Mary Celestia (Koetz) Burdick, of Twain Harte and Mesa, Ariz., died Sept. 20 at her summer home in Twain Harte. She was 97.
Mrs. Burdick was born in Faith, S.D., the first of eight children born to Eugene H. Koetz and Anna M. (Goetzinger) Koetz.
She received numerous awards for her penmanship in grade school and enjoyed writing letters.
She graduated from R.A. Long High School, in Longview, Wash., where she lettered in field hockey.
She married Albert B. Burdick on July 23, 1935.
She and her husband traveled extensively, including Canada, Australia, Europe and Palestine. They also traveled through every state in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
She was a skilled designer and seamstress and crafted clothing and afghans for her family.
Mrs. Burdick was a Cub Scouts den mother, president of the Catholic Daughters of America, member of the Jesuit Mothers Association and the All Saints Catholic Church women's guild in Twain Harte, and a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association.
She was an amateur genealogist. She researched her family history and wrote an unpublished biography of her family, "I Remember Mama Anna and Papa Eugene" in 1994.
Mrs. Burdick was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Albert Burdick; two infant brothers; sisters, Frances Mae Bourland, Eugenia A. Schonert, and Erma C. Fuller.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Eugene A. and Mary M. Burdick, of Mesa, Bernard J. and Ellen M. Burdick, of Reading, Mass.; grandchildren, Christopher E. Burdick, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Adam P. Burdick, of San Diego, Alexander A. Burdick, of Phoenix, Ariz., Jason A. Burdick, of Boston, Mass.; Katherine L. Burdick, of Brookline, Mass., and Carl A. Burdick, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one great-grandchild; siblings, Helen G. Smith, of Longview, and Kathryn L. Proshold, of Longview.
Donations in her memory can be made to All Saints Catholic Church, P.O. Box 642, Twain Harte, CA 95383; St. Bridget's Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, AZ 85213; or Hospice of the Sierra, 20100 Cedar Road North, Sonora, CA 95370.
Memorial services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Twain Harte and St. Bridget's Church in Mesa.

Lloyd Eileen (Jones) Jester Toland

Valley Springs resident Lloyd Eileen (Jones) Jester Toland died Sept. 20 at her daughter's home in Valley Springs. She was 80.
Mrs. Toland was born in Susanville to Florence and Lono Dee Jones.
She graduated from Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
She was self-employed for many years and moved to Sacramento area in the 1980s, where she worked for Adelberg Associates until retiring in the early 2000s.
Mrs. Toland was a life member of Soroptimist International.
She enjoyed craft projects, and was very handy, her family said.
Mrs. Toland was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Delaine White; stepdaughter, Donna Toland; and granddaughter, Kelly Berry; and first husband, Orville Jester.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry and Jane Jester, of Auburn, and Sandy and Joe Gleason, of Valley Springs; stepchildren and their spouses, Adrienne and Kevin Garza, of Gilroy, Patti Senn, of Yuba City, Janice and Randy Tassi, of Susanville; Barbara Howard, of Sacramento, Larry and Debbie Toland, of Susanville, Peggy Kevin Hoglen, Dayton, Nev.; former husband, Larry Toland, of Yuma, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial will be held.

William A. Wilson

Sonora resident William A. Wilson died Sept. 15 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 91.
Mr. Wilson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the son of Alexander and Jean Wilson, natives of Scotland.
He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, where he was stationed along the coast of British Columbia and Alaska. He crewed on a B-24 liberator and PBY amphibious aircrafts.
He moved to San Leandro in 1961, where he worked for State Electric Supply in Oakland for 24 years.
Mr. Wilson enjoyed working on his cabin in Mi-Wuk Village for a number years. He also enjoyed building wooden models of World War II planes and sailing ships, and raising finches.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Stella Fuller, Margaret Campbell, and Wilma Whiffin.
He is survived by his children, Stephen Wilson and his wife, Colleen, of Tuolumne, and Sandra Trube, of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Chad Trube, of Las Vegas, Robert Wilson, of the Sacramento area, Stephanie Wilson, of the Sacramento area, and Tarra Trube, of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews in the British Columbia area.
A private interment will be held at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne.
