Otto William Bunch

Dec. 11, 1923 - Aug. 23, 2013

Jamestown resident Otto William Bunch died Aug. 23 at Casa Viejos. He was 89.

Mr. Bunch was born and raised in Jefferson City, Mo., to Otto and Mary Bunch.

He lived in Detroit, Mich., before moving to California with his family.

Mr. Bunch served as a corporal in the Army Air Corps for two years.

He met Yvonne Dionne while on leave and they corresponded during his military service. After being discharged, he traveled to New Hampshire, where she was living, and proposed. They wed in 1946.

He and his wife settled in Tracy, where they raised seven children.

Mr. Bunch worked at Sharpe Army Depot and co-owned and operated a Shell station with his father. He later served as a correctional officer at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy for 25 years.

After his retirement in 1977, he and his wife built a home in Cedar Ridge. They lived there until settling in Jamestown in 2012.

Mr. Bunch enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, walking and watching sports.

He volunteered at St. Bernard's Church and school in Tracy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Patrick's and All Saints Catholic churches.

Mr. Bunch was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Jim, John and Donald Bunch; daughter, Elizabeth Phillips; his brother, Estel Bunch; and his sister, Jewel Spellman.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Yvonne Jeane Bunch, of Jamestown; three children, Carolyn Bunch-Jones, of Mariposa, Bill Bunch, of Sonora, and Kathy Gonzales, of Manteca; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 127 W. Jackson St., Sonora.

Marjorie (Hedgespeth) Fiske Miller

July 29, 1914 - Aug. 17, 2013

Former Tuolumne County resident Marjorie Fiske Miller died Aug. 17 at the Masonic Home of Union City. She was 99.

Mrs. Miller was born Marjorie Hedgespeth in Alturas, Modoc County, to Robert and Elaine Hedgespeth.

She worked as the Tuolumne County correspondent for the Modesto Bee for 10 years and lived in the county for more than 60 years.

She was named worthy matron and served as district deputy of the Tuolumne chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 123.

Mrs. Miller settled in Union City 13 years ago.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace Fiske, in 1974; and second husband, Harry Miller, in 1987.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gerald and Liz Fiske, of Pahrump, Nev., and Berna Hamilton, of Sonora; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A service has been held.

BOUSQUET - Nancy Bousquet, 65, of Sonora, died Monday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

HARVEY - Norman Lee Harvey, 82, of Sonora, died Aug. 14 at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sonora Hills clubhouse, 19601 Greenley Road. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SCHMOLLINGER - Leo Schmollinger, 61, of San Andreas, died Friday at his home. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at a family residence. For address information, call 772-1478, 772-1812 or 256-1402. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

TANNER - Former Sonora resident Revelyn Rovella Tanner, 64, of Stockton, died July 29 at hospital in Stockton. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the The Fellowship Church, suite 9, 7170 West Lane, Stockton. A potluck will follow.

TERRY - Former Jamestown resident John Joseph Terry, 81, of Oakdale, died Aug. 22 at a hospice in Oakdale. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 W F St., with a burial following at Oaklawn Memorial Park, 421 N Sierra Ave. Oakdale Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
