Michael Allan Davis

Dec. 29, 1950 - Aug. 7, 2013

Copperopolis resident Michael Allan Davis died Aug. 7 at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. He was 62.

Mr. Davis was born in Palo Alto to Ward and Ruth Davis.

He was raised in Castro Valley and also lived in Arizona before settling in Copperopolis 25 years ago.

Mr. Davis worked as a test driver for General Motors and as a heavy equipment operator at a gold mine before working as a CAD operator engineer for the Calaveras Telephone Co. for the past 17 years. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jonathan Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deborah Davis, of Copperopolis; mother-in-law Diana Schweitzer, of Copperopolis; brother, James Davis, and his wife, Maryann, of Granite Bay; sister, Judy Wolcott, of Fremont; brother-in-law Ken Schweitzer, of Copperopolis; and two nieces and one nephew.

No services are planned.

The Neptune Society of Northern California Stockton Branch is handling arrangements.

Michael L. Hines

Jan. 31, 1965 - Aug. 18, 2013

Angels Camp resident Michael L. Hines died Aug. 18 at his home. He was 48.

Mr. Hines was born in Carmel to Sharon and Jimmie Hines.

His family moved from Monterey to Angels Camp in 1977.

He graduated from Mark Twain Elementary School in 1979 and Bret Harte High School in 1983.

Mr. Hines worked as a painting contractor for the past 30 years in Angels Camp.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors and cared for animals.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Gary Mayes, of Gardnerville, Nev.; two sisters, Sherry Hines and Terry Hines-Fowler, both of Angels Camp; brother, Dale Hines, of Angels Camp; and nephew, Austyn Rodriguez-Hines, of Arizona.

Donations can be made to any favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday at Utica Park in Angels Camp.

Inurnment will be private.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Roeretta Ann (Bass) Mills

Jan. 17, 1945 - July 31, 2013

Former Tuolumne County resident Roeretta Ann (Bass) Mills, 68, of Malabar, Fla., died July 31 at an Orlando hospital. She was 68.

Mrs. Mills was born Roeretta Ann Bass in Sonora to George C. and Florence M. Bass.

She grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Sonora High School in 1963.

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1965, primarily in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

She settled in Florida after her military service.

Mrs. Mills worked for Publix Markets in Florida for about 35 years.

She and her husband, Charles Mills, moved from Hollywood, Fla., to Malabar 22 years ago, following his retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard.

She enjoyed gardening and crafting and sold her crafts at a farmers market booth.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband, Charles Mills, of Malabar; her son, Joe Manual, of

Malabar; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Doreen Bass, of Sonora; sister, Rose Shaffer, of Sonora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Florida.

Faye D. (Loomis) Fletcher

Dec. 5, 1925 -Aug. 10. 2013

Angels Camp resident Faye D. Fletcher died Aug. 10 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Fletcher was born Faye D. Loomis in Chico to Ralph and Velda Loomis.

She was raised in Calpine in Sierra County. Her family to moved to White Pines in 1939 after the lumber mill in Calpine closed.

She met Donald Fletcher in high school, and they married on Sept. 23, 1945.

She worked as a bookkeeper for a family run general contracting company for more than 30 years in Angels Camp.

She and her husband were members of the Greenhorn Creek Golf Club and enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stanley Loomis; and sister, Joan Mayo.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald M. Fletcher, of Angels Camp; son, Jack Fletcher, of Angels Camp; daughter, Janice Fletcher, of Oakland; brother, George Loomis, of Angels Camp; grandchildren, Jessica Fletcher, of Murphys, Alexandria Fletcher, of Angels Camp, and Emily Erickson, of Davis; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any favorite charity.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Sept. 14 at the Angels Gun Club. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
