Edward Laurence Brouillard

Aug. 17, 1937 - Aug. 10, 2013

Jamestown resident Edward Laurence Brouillard died Aug. 10 at his home in Jamestown. He was 76.

Mr. Brouillard was born in Old Saybrook, Conn., to Didace and Rose (Corriveau) Brouillard.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked as a title officer at in title insurance for 40 years.

Mr. Brouillard retired to Jamestown from Santa Clara 20 years ago.

He was a member of Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers, American Legion Sonora Post 58, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3154, Sons in Retirement and Tuolumne County Veterans Community.

He enjoyed camping, golfing and traveling.

Mr. Brouillard was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Raymond Brouillard, sister, Antoinette Brouillard, brother, Conrad Brouillard.

He is survived by his partner of 42 years and wife of seven years, Kathryn Brouillard, of Jamestown; his children, Brad Brouillard, of Santa Clara, and Janine Cross and her husband, Steve, of Ontario, Calif.; sister, Camilla Emmons, of Bend, Ore., and grandchildren, Danny Cross and Alyssa Cross, both of Ontario.

Donations in his memory can be made to Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers, 11155 Jackson St., Columbia, CA 95310, or American Legion Sonora Post 58, 9 N. Washington St., Sonora, CA 95370.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 at Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers, 11155 Jackson St.

Esther Lydia(Motle) Guillemin

Feb. 1, 1926 - Aug. 6, 2013

Jamestown resident Esther Lydia Guillemin died Aug. 6 at Meadow View Manor in Soulsbyville. She was 87.

Mrs. Guillemin was born Esther Lydia Motle in Blooming Prairie, Minn., to William and Violet Motle.

She moved to California in the early 1950s.

She began working for Sierra Conservation Center in 1965. There, she met Ed "Gill" Guillemin. They married in 1967.

She worked for the state until 1988. After that, she and her husband were involved with cattle ranching in Raymond, Madera County, until 2002.

Mrs. Guillemin lived in Carson City, Nev., from 2002 until her husband's death in December 2010, when she moved back to Jamestown to live with her son, Mike Rahn.

She moved to Meadow View Manor in 2012.

Mrs. Guillemin was a member of the Madera County Cow Belles, an organization for female cattle ranchers.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sea cruises, tending to various animals and San Francisco Giants baseball.

Mrs. Guillemin was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ed "Gill' Guillemin; brother, Bud Motle; and sons, Terry and Richard Anderson.

She is survived by her children, Dan Rahn, of Sonora, and Mike Rahn, of Jamestown; sisters, Virginia Lindquist, of Waterville, Minn., Barbara Garber, of Carson City, and Linda Augustine, of Austin, Minn.; stepdaughters, Gail McCormick, of Cottonwood, and Shirley Clay, of Texas.

No service is planned.

Patrick Luepke

Dec. 18, 1955 - Aug. 13, 2013

Sonora resident Patrick Luepke died Aug. 13 at his home. He was 57.

Mr. Luepke was born in Oakland to Grace and Bob Luepke.

His family visited the area when he was young and he settled in Sonora 28 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during the mid-1970s.

He worked for Sonora Mining Corp. from its opening in 1986 until its closure in 1994.

He worked for and later owned O'Connors Parts Inc.

Mr. Luepke was a member of the National Rifle Association and E. Clampus Vitus Matuca Chapter 1849.

He enjoyed writing and playing music, building and riding motorcycles, and fishing.

Mr. Luepke was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Luepke, in 2012, and brother, Mike Luepke, in 1985; and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Luepke, of Sonora; and grandson, Daniel Perry, of Sonora.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Crystal Falls Clubhouse. A potluck luncheon will follow.

Dorothy (Myers) Roemer

Oct. 20, 1929 - Aug. 3, 2013

Sonora resident Dorothy (Myers) Roemer died Aug. 3 at Skyline Place. She was 83.

Mrs. Roemer was born Dorothy Meyers in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Albert R. and Lois M. Myers.

Her family lived in Hawaii and Guam for a few years due to her father's military service before settling in Long Beach in the early 1940s.

She and her mother visited China in 1938 and brought back many heirlooms which are still in the family.

She worked as an escrow officer and officer manager in Long Beach for a number years, before settling in Sonora 35 years ago.

Mrs. Roemer enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing and ceramics.

Mrs. Roemer was preceded in death by her husband John Roemer, in 2010.

She is survived by her children, John Roemer, of Wellington, Nev., and Melanie Ratliff, of Elko, Nev.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

No service is planned.

PIAZZA -A private family service for John Vincent Piazza, 62, of Sonora, who died Aug. 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center, will be held Saturday in Bay Point. The E Clampus Vitus Mactuca Chapter 1849 will hold a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Saturday at the St. Charles Saloon, 22801 Main St. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
