Jerry Lee Henderson

Feb. 25, 1931 - July 30, 2013

Mariposa resident Jerry Lee Henderson died July 30 at his home. He was 82.

Mr. Henderson was born in Fort Lupton, Colo., to Ralph and Mansella Henderson. He grew up in the Midwest.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served in Hawaii. After his military service, he settled in California.

He married Annabelle Kent on Nov. 30, 1968, in San Lorenzo.

He worked as a day care center supervisor for the Hayward Unified School District for 12 years, beginning in the early 1980s.

He and his wife lived in the Bay Area for a number years before retiring to Mariposa in 1990.

Mr. Henderson worked part-time at Andy's True Value Hardware in Sonora for 11 years, beginning in the mid-1990s.

He was a member of the Modesto Sons In Retirement. He was also a sports fan, especially golf and the Oakland Raiders and Athletics.

Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terry Henderson, in 2008; twin brother, Larry Henderson, in 2002, brother, Kenneth Henderson, in 2009; and a former wife.

He is survived his wife of 44 years, Annabelle Henderson, of Mariposa; four children; five stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Don Pedro at a later date.

Neptune Society of Central California is handling arrangements.

Sharon (Dickinson) Ruby

Jan. 20, 1937 - July 30, 2013

Sonora resident Sharon (Dickinson)Ruby died July 30 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 76.

Mrs. Ruby was born Sharon Dickinson in Detroit, Mich., to Lawrence and Helen Dickinson.

She was a homemaker most her life and settled in Sonora 39 years ago.

She volunteered with the Tuolumne General Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, baking and knitting.

Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Julia Schoon, of Copperopolis, Sonja Leamon, of Sonora, John Williams, of Las Vegas, Nev., Susan Stair, of Lafayette, Ind., and Cheryl Williams, of Chino Valley, Ariz.; siblings, Mike Dickinson, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Susan Vance, of Carney, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private memorial has been held.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


BOWEN - William Bowen, 90, of Jamestown, died Tuesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

CRAVENS - Donald R. Cravens, 86, of Groveland, died Aug. 5 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 11347 Wards Ferry Road, Big Oak Flat. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

KEITH - James Keith, 83, of Columbia, died Tuesday at Avalon Care Center of Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

LUEPKE - Patrick Luepke, 57, of Sonora, died Tuesday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
