Heidi (Stone) Bayer

July 10, 1973 - July 17, 2013

Sonora resident Heidi (Stone) Bayer died July 17 at her home after battling breast cancer for more than a year. She was 40.

Mrs. Bayer was born Heidi Stone in Sonora to Linda and Richard Stone.

She graduated from Summerville High School in 1992, where was a member of the Color Guard. She also attended Columbia College.

Mrs. Bayer was a homemaker for 20 years and homeschooled her children through Hickman Charter School for several years.

She worked as an assistant manager for the Sonora McDonald's for a number of years. She also worked as an assembler and machine operator at Mother Lode Plastics in Soulsbyville, as a caregiver at Skyline Place, and a teacher's aide at Soulsbyville Elementary School where she was known as the "Sunshine Mine Lady."

Mrs. Bayer was a member of the Mother's of Preschoolers group at Sierra Bible Church, was a board member of the Partners in Ministry Church in Sonora and attended Christian Heights Assembly of God Church.

She volunteered at the cancer center at Sonora Regional Medical Center and participated in Relay for Life the past two years.

She enjoyed gardening

Mrs. Bayer was preceded in death by her father, Richard Stone, in 1999.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Fritz Bayer, of Sonora; her mother, Linda Stone Breckheimer, of Alsea, Ore., her children, Rebecca, Annabelle and Brandon Bayer, all of Sonora; her siblings, Jeremy Stone, of Independence, Ore., Heather Houck, of Waldport, Ore., and Jodi Seeley, of Florence, Ore.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life has been held, followed by burial at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne.

Earl Mitchell Daily

Nov. 13, 1926 - July 18, 2013

Sonora resident Earl Mitchell Daily died July 18 at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Daily was born in Blanchard, Okla., to Henry Clay Daily and Arvagine (Mitchell) Daily.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.

He settled in Tuolumne County 64 years ago.

He worked as an independent contractor more than 45 years. He built several homes in Tuolumne County and also helped his friends and relatives with their building projects.

Mr. Daily also worked at Sierra Laundry for 11 years and ran the outdoor movie theater in Twain Harte during the 1960s.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Daily was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Daily, in 1990; son, Harrell Daily, in 1999; and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Lin Powell, of Sonora; and grandchildren, Kenneth Powell, of West Sacramento, and Dave Powell, of Sonora; one great-grandchild; and two sisters.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

June (Robertson) Mylar

June 6, 1924 - July 22, 2013

Soulsbyville resident June (Robertson) Mylar died July 22 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Mylar was born at the family home and business in the Yosemite Junction to Alice (Colors) and Charles Christopher Robertson.

She wed Ernest B. Mylar on Halloween in 1948.

She was a housewife and raised her son, Michael T. Mylar.

Mrs. Mylar was a member of Friends of the Forest group and the Modesto Datsun Roadster Club.

She enjoyed animals.

Mrs. Mylar was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Mylar, in 1995; and daughter, Linda Louise Mylar, in 1996.

She is survived by her son, Michael T. Mylar, of Soulsbyville; and granddaughter, Kathryn Louise "Katie" Bailey, of Phoenix, Ariz.

Carren Thomas

July 3, 1949 - July 13, 2013

Sonora resident Carren Thomas died July 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 64.

Ms. Thomas was born in Pomona to Edison and Betty Doreen (Nehring) Thomas.

She settled in Tuolumne County 33 years ago.

She was a member of the Journey Church in Sonora for several years.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughters, Michelle White, of Sonora, Leann Thomas, of Sonora, Lesha Hitz, of Omaha, Neb., Rebecca Klein, of Sonora, and Rachel Britt, of Sonora; sister, Kathleen DiGiacomo, of Columbia; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Journey Church, 14425 Mono Way East Sonora.
