Lois (Wiles) Fox

June 16, 1917 - July 3, 2013

Tuolumne resident Lois Fox died July 3 at her home. She was 96.

Mrs. Fox was born Lois Wiles in Napa to Frank and Winona Wiles.

She married Howard Fox on June 1, 1941, and was a housewife for 76 years.

She moved from Arizona to Tuolumne County six years ago to be closer to family.

Mrs. Fox enjoyed reading, crocheting, babysitting and Bible study and was a member of Chapel in the Pines in Twain Harte.

Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Fox, in January; and daughter, Janice Maylene Fox, in 1953.

She is survived by her children, Linda Robinson, of West Sacramento, Marylin Lessard, of Reno, Nev., Joycelyn Crisman, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Donna Benning, of Tuolumne; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at a family home in Tuolumne, 18390 Yarrow Road, Tuolumne.

Helen E. (Swank) Murdoch

Sept. 12, 1929 - June 17, 2013

Former Sonora resident Helen E. Murdoch died June 17 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. She was 83.

Mrs. Murdoch was born Helen Swank in Drumright, Okla., the youngest of seven daughters to Walter and Mollie Hill Swank.

She moved to California and served as financial adviser for the city of Richmond, Calif., and was elected to the city council in Pinole. She also lived in Sonora for a number of years.

Mrs. Murdoch was an advocate for women's rights. She also wrote and published a book on her family history.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, listening to classical music and puzzles.

Mrs. Murdoch was preceded in death by her husband, John Barry; and six older sisters.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jack and Linda Murdoch, of Berea, Ky., Alan Murdoch, of Hayward, Cynthia Stanford, of Ukiah, and Heather Murdoch, of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Ronald Eldon Teutsch

Feb. 9, 1939 - July 10, 2013

Angels Camp resident Ronald Eldon Teutsch died Wednesday in Modesto. He was 74.

Mr. Teutsch was born in Oakland to Eldon and Dorothy Teutsch.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1965.

Mr. Teutsch was a small-business owner. He owned and operated a convenience store in the Bay Area from 1970 until his retirement in 1999.

He settled in Angels Camp with his wife, Judith Teutsch, 10 years ago.

He enjoyed golfing and woodworking. He was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West and the Greenhorn Creek Men's Club.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Teutsch, of Angels Camp; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Anne Teutsch, of San Ramon; and grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew Teutsch, of San Ramon.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Parish, 809 S. Main St., Angels Camp.
