Jessica Michelle (Thompson) Ruel

Oct. 15, 1980 - June 15, 2013

Jessica Thompson Ruel, formerly of Twain Harte, died of unknown causes June 15 in her home in Santa Barbara. She was 32.

Ms. Ruel was born in Redwood City to Rhoda Thompson and Gregory Thompson. Her family moved to Sierra Village when she was 2 months old and later to Twain Harte.

She attended Twain Harte Elementary School and was in the graduating class of 1999 at Summerville High School. She enjoyed several years in Hawaii and was most recently studying marketing at Santa Barbara Community College.

She enjoyed cooking, singing, photography, figure skating and hiking.

Ms. Ruel is survived by her mother, Rhoda and Gregory Thompson, of Twain Harte; and younger sister Rachel Palmer, of Charlotte, N.C.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at the Country Cowboy Church, 14888 Peaceful Valley Road, East Sonora.

Cherise Mary (Moody) Frederick

April 13, 1930 - June 10, 2013

Sonora resident Cherise Mary Frederick died June 10 at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. She was 83.

Mrs. Frederick was born and raised in Sacramento to Jack Moody and Marcella (Reed) Moody.

She taught dancing at Arthur Murray Studio as a teenager there.

Mrs. Frederick worked as a dental technician sculpting prosthetic dental work in Sacramento and Sonora for over 30 years. She then worked giving various demonstrations and samples, mostly of food, around the Mother Lode and Central Valley before retirement.

She lived in Sonora for 38 years, enjoying the mountains.

Mrs. Frederick was a member of All Saints Church in Twain Harte. She used her knowledge of dental repairs to repair statues for the church, then other churches began sending their statues to her for repair.

Mrs. Frederick enjoyed gardening and feeding birds and squirrels and had a collection of wind chimes. She also entertained tourists at Columbia State Historic Park.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edson Vernon Frederick; second husband, Robert Shelly; and sons, Mark, Keith and Rod Frederick.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Charlann Frederick, of Sonora; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.
