Roger Martin Briski

July 17, 1955 - June 15, 2013

Calaveras County family businessman Roger Martin Briski, a lifelong resident of Amador County, died of esophageal cancer June 15 at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento. He was 57.

Mr. Briski was born in Stockton to George A. and Ruth Irene (Gomes) Briski.

He worked in the family business, Briski Well Drilling Co. Inc. in San Andreas. He worked with his brothers as a well driller from a very young age. He worked during summer while in high school and then full-time after graduating from Ione High School.

In 1983, Mr. Briski went to work for Caltrans in Sacramento as a foundation drilling lead worker. He retired in 2010 after 27 years with Caltrans.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and the outdoors.

Mr. Briski was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Harry and David Briski.

He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Connie Reyes, of Ione; son, Thomas J. "T.J." Briski, of Berthoud, Colo.; daughter, Christy Craig, of Eaton, Colo.; brother, Frank Briski, of Ione; grandchildren, Serena and Logan Craig, of Eaton, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Carole Briksi, of Ione, Patty Briski, Okmulgee, Okla., Clara M. Briski, of Mountain Ranch; numerous nieces and nephews; an aunt and uncle.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Altaville Protestant Cemetery, Stockton Road and Monte Vista Street.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

James Koltin 'Jimmie' McColloch

July 7, 1995 - June 22, 2013

Former Sonora resident James Koltin "Jimmie" McColloch died in an auto accident June 22 in Grangeville, Idaho. He was 17.

Mr. McColloch was born in Sonora to Lance and Marcie McColloch. He attended Columbia Elementary School from kindergarten to sixth grade.

In 2007, he moved to Grangeville with his father, Lance, and stepmother, Eve McColloch.

He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. After moving to Idaho, he participated in several youth rodeos, competing in youth bull riding events.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Lance and Eve McColloch, of Grangeville, Idaho; his mother and stepfather, Marcie and Clint Nau, of Sonora; brothers, Rahn and Mark McColloch, both of Grangeville; sister, Mattisen Nau, of Sonora; aunts and uncles, Mark and Sally McColloch and Jamie and Ray Parsons, all of Sonora, Stacy and Gregg Rice, of Sacramento, and Kim and Nathan Owens, of Tennessee; and numerous cousins.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the McColloch residence at 395 Dewey Saddle Road, Grangeville.

Arne Alfred Klingstrand

July 30, 1912 - June 14, 2013

Sonora resident Arne Alfred Klingstrand died June 14 at his home. He was 100.

Mr. Klingstrand was born in Gothenborg, Sweden, to Elin Maria and Johan Alfred Magnusson, and immigrated to the United States in 1956. The family later changed their name to Klingstrand.

He earned a master's degree in theology from Andrews University in Michigan.

Mr. Klingstrand served as a pastor at churches in Chicago, Ill., and New York City and Patchogue, N.Y.

He retired in 1977 and settled in Sonora 20 years ago.

He enjoyed animals, reading, painting, writing and studying the Bible. He also sent religious literature around the world.

Mr. Klingstrand was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Klingstrand, in 2001.

He is survived by his children, Gunhild Nevatt, of Sonora, and Alf Klingstrand, of Sonora; grandchildren, Nathan Klingstrand, of Walla Walla, Wash., Suzanne Icenogle, of Sonora, Erik Nevatt, of Loma Linda, Joseph Klingstrand, of Redlands, and Daniel Klingstrand, of Redlands; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Karin Larson, of Sweden.

A private graveside service has been held.
