Chandler Wallace Groves

Copperopolis business owner Chandler Groves died April 4 in Modesto. He was 55.

A fourth-generation Farmington-area resident, Mr. Groves was born in Stockton to Wallace and Gretchen Groves.

He ran the family farm for many years before becoming the owner of McDillard's Feed and NAPA Auto Parts, both in Copperopolis.

He was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and a past member of the Farmington Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Mr. Groves enjoyed mechanics, welding and working with tools.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Groves is survived by his wife of 29 years, Robin Groves, of Farmington; sons, Chandler, Clinton, and Cameron Groves, all of Farmington; mother, Gretchen Groves, of Stockton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Scott Shackelford, of Florida, Brenda and Mike Metzger, of Martinez, Amy and Mark Madison, of Acampo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Tulloch Bible Church, 3566 Spangler Lane, Copperopolis.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Florence Ladene Rossman

Oct. 19, 1925 - April 1, 2013

Big Oak Flat resident Florence Rossman died April 1 at her son's home in Jamestown. She was 87.

Mrs. Rossman was born and raised in Stayton, Ore. She attended Linfield College in McMinnvile, Ore., and continued studies in Oakland. Mrs. Rossman was then a Tuolumne County resident for nearly 62 years.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker and volunteered to play piano for local school musical programs. She taught many to how to read music and play the piano, and played for numerous weddings, community functions, and most Sunday services at her church.

Mrs. Rossman enjoyed picking flowers from her yard and creating flower bouquets, and bringing people to church services. She was a member of the Buck Meadows Church and First Baptist Church in Big Oak Flat and helped build that church with her husband in the early 1970s.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Holm; sister, Irene Kelm; and brother, Orville Poole.

Mrs. Rossman is survived by her husband, Ray Rossman, of Big Oak Flat; daughters, Ellen Deason, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Evelyn Peoples, of Big Oak Flat; sons, Ray Holm, of Jamestown, Ronnie Holm, of Corning, and Randy Rossman, of Orland; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ellen Fehlen, of Sublimity, Ore., and Agnes Grover, of Stayton, Ore.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. April 20 at the First Baptist Church, 11347 Wards Ferry Road, Big Oak Flat.

Jeannine Warren

Oct. 18, 1932 - March 15, 2013

Sonora resident Jeannine Warren died March 15 at her home. She was 80.

Mrs. Warren was born in Baker, Ore., to Frank Mack Warren and Lola (Scott) Warren.

She lived throughout California before moving to Sonora 15 years ago.

Mrs. Warren ran a day care while raising her own children, then returned to school to earn a nursing degree. She worked as a dialysis nurse for 25 years throughout California.

Mrs. Warren collected and dealt antiques throughout her life, and enjoyed gardening, particularly flowers, which she arranged for church, weddings and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jimmie Frank Warren, in 1946.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her children, Clay Maddox, of Sonora, Kim Maddox, of Visalia, Van Maddox, of Calpine, and Tara McDaniel, of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Katie Walker, of Jamestown, Ryan Maddox, of Folsom, Tiffany Ramirez, of Irvine, Chad David, of Burbank, Chelsea McDaniel, of Jordan, Gabriella McDaniel, of Eugene, Ore., Jared Maddox, of Grass Valley, and Stephanie Quirk, of Angwin, Napa County; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, LaRene Spady, of Prosser, Wash., Alberta Shull, of Corvallis, Ore., and Dale Warren, of Corvallis.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Sonora Seventh-day Adventist Church, 40 N. Forest Road.
