Jacquelyne (Avery) Silva

Jan. 10, 1926 - March 23, 2013

Douglas Flat resident Jacquelyne Silva died March 23 at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Silva was born in Wendon, Ariz., to Myra Francis Odell.

She previously owned Avery Gas Station, and had also worked as a chef at Lake Alpine Lodge, and worked at the Sierra Pine Cone Co. that supplied locals and some Macy's stores with holiday decorations.

She moved to Calaveras County with her husband, Henry Silva, in 1960 and won several prizes for her doll-making at local fairs.

Mrs. Silva enjoyed making and repairing dolls and knitting sweaters for her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her mother; step-father, James Maurice Odell; husband, Henry Silva; and siblings, Bernise Dorman, Venetia Anderson, Stella Kiah, Thomas Odell, and Cassandra Heilmann; brother-in-law, Norman Dorman; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Odell.

She is survived by brother, Lawrence Odell, in Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Abigail Bucceri, in Camarillo, Cynthia Luttig, of Springfield, Ore.; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Lorene Leona (Hughes) Colmon

July 2, 1925 - March 28, 2013

Soulsbyville resident Lorene Colmon died March 28 at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Colmon was born in Los Angeles to Reed and Mary (Riley) Hughes.

She lived in San Jose and Long Barn and worked as a seamstress and machinist. She also owned a general store and restaurant with her husband, Pete Colman, in Long Barn.

She was also a homemaker and lived in Soulsbyville the last 27 years.

Mrs. Colmon was a member of the Sonora Heights Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 33 years. She enjoyed nature, studying the Bible and sharing it with others.

Mrs. Colmon is survived by her husband of 63 years, Pete Colmon, of Soulsbyville; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and John Clements, of Soulsbyville; grandchildren, Lindsay Lawson, of Jamestown, Brandon Clements, of Tuolumne, Jamie Roseland, of Sacramento; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehova's Witnesses, upper hall, 19985 Greenley Road, Sonora.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lucky Boyd Peterson

April 13, 1945 - March 28, 2013

Jamestown resident Lucky Peterson died March 28 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was 67.

Mr. Peterson was born in Modesto to Frances and Barbara Peterson.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Peterson worked in engineering for the U.S. Forest Service for 42 years. He lived in Jamestown the last three years, and, before that, Soulsbyville for 32 years.

He was a member of Sonora Elks Lodge 1587 and Sonora Bass Club, and enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Peterson, of Jamestown; daughters, Heather Chastain, of El Dorado, and Michelle Hazelton, of Sonora; grandchildren, Andrew Hickey, of Jamestown, Laura Chastain, of El Dorado, and Zachary, Isaiah, and Jonah Hazelton, all of Sonora; brother, Rocky Peterson, of Citrus Heights; and sister, Sandra Nirschl, of Palm Desert.

No services will be held. A gathering of friends and family will be held 1 p.m. April 27 at Rawhide Mobile Home Park clubhouse, 8400 Old Melones Dam Road, Jamestown.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
