John James Carajan

Oct. 1, 1957 - March 23, 2013

Jamestown resident John Carajan died March 23 at Kaiser Permanente Modesto Medical Center. He was 55.

Mr. Carajan was born in San Francisco to Robert G. and Patricia E. Carajan.

He worked as a laborer at Hetch Hetchy Water and Power for 25 years.

Mr. Carajan was a former volunteer for the Jamestown Fire Department. He enjoyed carpentry, mechanics, hunting, water skiing, four-wheeling, barbecuing, the outdoors, working in the woods, visiting and learning about the ghost town Bodie, and learning about the history of Hetch Hetchy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carajan, in 1973; mother, Patricia Carajan, in 2001; brothers, Michael Carajan, in 1978, and Robert Carajan, in 2008; and a sister, Katherine Bloss, in 2011.

He is survived by his daughters, Sara E. Carajan, and Katherine M. Carajan, both of Jamestown; sisters, Patricia Gerner, of Sonora, and Connie Degen, of Jamestown; brother, Karl Carajan, of Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held at a later date.

Florence B. (Lomperski) Kamien

Feb. 9, 1920 - March 29, 2013

Sonora resident Florence Kamien died Friday at her home. She was 93.

Mrs. Kamien was born in Chicago, Ill., to Stanley Lomperski Sr. and Suzanne (Mac) Lomperski.

She worked as a vault custodian in Chicago for 30 years. She also worked as a line dance teacher from 1993 to 1999 at The Willows Senior Center in San Jose.

She enjoyed dancing and sewing.

Mrs. Kamien was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Edward Kamien, in 1973.

She is survived by her daughter, Edna McCarthy, of Sonora; brother, Mike Lomperski, of Madison, Wis.; sisters, Mary Czarnecki, of Greenfield, Wis., and Bonnie Johnson, of Cambridge, Wis.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St.

Anita (Sanders) Pratt

June 19, 1943 - March 29, 2013

Sonora resident Anita Pratt died March 29 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Pratt was born in Richmond to Edward Leroy Sanders and Mary Alta (Powell) Sanders.

She worked as a landscaper in the Sonora and Angels Camp areas for 20 years.

Mrs. Pratt was a member of Angels Camp Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed gardening, visiting Yosemite National Park and Daffodil Hill, and crocheting blankets for Sonora Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by children, Alan Pratt, of Columbia, Johnathan Brian Pratt, of Sonora, Dan Pratt, of Isleton in Sacramento County, William Wiltshire, of Lakeland, Fla., and Nina Rodriguez, of Lodi; brothers, John Sanders, of Riverbank, and Carmen Sanders, of Red Bluff; sisters, Carol Sanders, of Sonora, and Ruth Haskell, of Red Bluff; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and an ex-husband, Bruce Pratt, of Greeley Hill.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Turlock Memorial Park, 425 N. Soderquist Road and 7 p.m. at Angels Camp Seventh-day Adventist Church, 140 N. Main St.
