Constance Anne (Ellis) Doerr

May 15, 1926 - March 24, 2013

Soulsbyville resident Constance Doerr died Sunday at Oak Terrace Memory Care in Soulsbyville. She was 86.

Mrs. Doerr was born in Palo Alto.

While in college she worked as a playground operator in Albany, in Alameda County. She continued after college, and did the work for a total of 10 years. She then owned a knitting shop in Oakland, Knit Kit, from 1975 until retirement in 1986.

Mrs. Doerr volunteered with Sierra Foothills Womens Club for local charities and was a member of Sierra Bible Church.

She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint embroidering.

Mrs. Doerr is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donn Doerr, of East Sonora; son, Rodd Doerr, of Aptos; daughter, Lindsay Doerr, of Arden; and grandson, Jack Doerr, of Aptos.

No services will be held.

Robert D. Sullivan

Aug. 10, 1933 - March 19, 2013

Sonora resident Robert Sullivan died March 19 at his home. He was 79.

Mr. Sullivan was born in Santa Monica to Robert Charles Sullivan and Emma Lee Sullivan and raised in Madison, Wis.

He was honorably discharged as a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as an electronic technician.

He worked as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department 1956 to 1964. He then worked as a partner and general manager of International Motorcycles in Canoga Park 1964 to 1979.

Mr. Sullivan worked as a financial officer for California Oaks Real Estate in Thousand Oaks 1973 to 1976. He was an owner and real estate broker with Heritage Real Estate in Thousand Oaks 1976 to 1980.

He worked as a real estate broker for Mammoth Crest Real Estate in Mammoth Lakes in 1980 before settling in Sonora to do the same work until retirement in 1987.

Mr. Sullivan was affiliated with the Tuolumne County Board of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors and the National Board of Realtors.

He enjoyed ham radio, boating and skiing.

Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard P. Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia H. Sullivan, of Georgia; children and their spouses, Dennis Michael Sullivan and Trisha Sullivan, of Oregon, Patrick Sean Sullivan and Karen Sullivan, of Newnan, Ga., Terrie Lee Campbell-Miller and Jeff Miller, of Ashland, Ore., Erin C. Sullivan, of Mount Shasta, and Kelley E. Ramos, of Ruch, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held.

Karoly 'Charles' Szabo

Sep. 18, 1918 - March 27, 2013

Murphys resident Karoly Szabo died March 27 in San Andreas. He was 94.

Mr. Szabo was born in Budapest, Hungary, the fifth child of Janos and Lydia Szabo. He received a double doctorate in law and political science from a Hungarian university.

He worked as an attorney in Hungary before moving to the United States in 1968.

Mr. Szabo was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Magdolna "Magda" Szabo, in 2011, and all his siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 621 Sheep Ranch Road, Murphys, where he will be interred next to his wife.


HARGROVE - Eunice Hargrove, 93, formerly of Sonora, died Thursday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

PARK - A funeral service for Sandra Jo Park, 71, of West Point, who died March 23 at Mark Twain Convalescent Home in San Andreas, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Point Community Covenant Church, 22264 Highway 26. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
