Valerie Joy (Rowson) Gloyn

Nov. 14, 1943 - March 13, 2013

Sonora resident Valerie Gloyn died March 13 at her home. She was 69.

Mrs. Gloyn was born in Stockton-on-Tees, England, to Vera and Peter Rowson.

She married Arnold John Gloyn in 1965, and moved with her family to Walnut Creek in the mid-1970s. She retired to Sonora 10 years ago.

She worked as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, traveling, reading, gardening and the outdoors.

Mrs. Gloyn is survived by her husband of 47 years, Arnold John Gloyn, of Sonora; her children and their spouses, Jill Borden, of Brentwood, Andrew John Gloyn and Terri Gloyn, of Brentwood, and Annie (Gloyn) Martzell and Jared Martzell, of Glendale; her mother, Vera Rowson, of Guisborough, England; her brother, Christopher Rowson, of Tatsfield, England; and grandchildren, Frances and Max Borden, and Austin and Rilee Gloyn, all of Brentwood.

Private family services will be held.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donations may be made in her memory to Sonora Regional Medical Center Foundation, Cancer Patient Support Fund, care of Susan Balcarcel, 900 Greenley Road, Suite 901, Sonora, CA 95370.

Louise (Graham) Rowland

August 9, 1921 - March 18, 2013

Soulsbyville resident Louise Rowland died March 18 at Oak Terrace Memory Care in Soulsbyville. She was 91.

Mrs. Rowland was born in Missouri and moved to Berkeley in 1934.

She worked as a commercial albacore tuna fisher with her husband for 20 years along the West Coast, based in San Francisco.

She lived in Soulsbyville the last six years.

Mrs. Rowland was a member of the Arlington Community Church in Kensington. She enjoyed knitting and reading and sang professionally.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert Carpenter in 1959 and a second husband, William Rowland, in 1980.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jean C. and Michael McGinty, of Soulsbyville, Judith and Thomas Fallas, of Sonora; brother, Lloyd Graham, of Newberry Park; sister, Rosalee Tansey, of Royal Oaks; grandchildren, Dallas Vittum, of Seattle, Wash., and Graham Vittum, of San Diego; and two great-granddaughters.

Private family services will be held.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

David Alan Willoughby

July 24, 1961 - March 14, 2013

Tuolumne resident David Willoughby died March 14 at his home. He was 51.

Mr. Willoughby was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Riley and Mary Ruth (Whitfield) Willoughby and moved around the country with his parents as his father was in the military.

He spent most of his life in the Central Valley area.

Mr. Willoughby served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged.

He worked as a commercial construction inspector for 15 years, mostly in the Central Valley.

Mr. Willoughby enjoyed motorcycles, drag racing, dogs and making friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Winter Raine Willoughby, of Turlock; and many brothers.

No services are planned.

BROOME - Charles Broome Jr., of Sonora, 77, died Tuesday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

DUDA - A memorial reception for John Duda, 63, of Arnold, who died Tuesday at University of California, Davis, Medical Center was planned for noon today at Snowshoe Brewery, 2050 Highway 4, Arnold. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

HENSLEY - Paul Hensley, 28, of Sonora, died Friday in Sonora. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

JOHNSON - Raymond Johnson, 90, of Columbia, died Thursday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MAACK - A memorial service for Marilyn Maack, 74, of Sonora, who died Wednesday at her daughter's home in Modesto, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Creation United Methodist Church, 1675 Winchester Blvd., Campbell.

SNYDER - Richard Snyder, 53, of La Grange, died Thursday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

WINTERS - Wellma Winters, 88, of Sonora, died Friday at a residence in Tuolumne. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

WEAVER - A visitation for Daisy Weaver, 89, of Coulterville, who died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Heuton Memorial Chapel, 400 S. Stewart St., Sonora. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dudley Cemetery, in Coulterville. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
