William Sherman Clark

Sep. 3, 1944 - Jan. 28, 2013

William Sherman Clark, formerly of San Andreas, died Jan. 28 at his San Jose home. He was 68.

Mr. Clark was born in Jackson. He grew up in Valley Springs and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1961.

Mr. Clark worked as a security supervisor for Northrup Grumman in the Silicon Valley for 35 years.

He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Delia Thurber, of Spokane, Wash.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Kevin Krantz, of San Andreas, and Louise and Lester Adams, of Prineville, Ore.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, 254 W. St. Charles St.

Burial will follow at People's Cemetery, 273 Cemetery Ave., San Andreas.

Gladys Zelma (Manley) Hipp

April 15, 1918 - March 19, 2013

Chinese Camp resident Gladys Zelma Hipp died Tuesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 94.

Mrs. Hipp was born in Arkansas and was raised in Paducah, Texas, where she drove a team of horses on her family farm.

She met and married Buster Hipp and they moved to Jacksonville in 1960. The family lived in Jacksonville until 1970, when Lake Don Pedro was filled, then moved to Chinese Camp.

Mrs. Hipp was a homemaker and a seamstress, making most of the family's clothes. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening and flowers.

Mrs. Hipp was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Hipp, in 2004; her parents; two sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Hipp, of Chinese Camp.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora, with a graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson.

Margaret Mary (Kiszlowski) Ryan

Sep. 26, 1942 - March 13, 2013

Sonora resident Margaret Ryan died March 13 at Country Lane Estates in Sonora. She was 70.

Mrs. Ryan was born in Detroit, Mich.

She worked as a pediatric registered nurse in Michigan and as a home health registered nurse in Florida. She moved to Sonora in 2009 to live with family.

Mrs. Ryan attended the Catholic church and enjoyed choir, nursing, cooking and gardening.

She provided nursing care to her sister, Judy Kiszlowski; husband, Donald Ryan; and her mother before their deaths.

She is survived by her brother, Michael Kiszlowski, of Sonora; nieces, Kathryn Johnston, of Sonora, and Shelley Cloutier, of Folsom, and their husbands; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

No services are planned.

Donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras.

Erik C. Stevenson

July 15, 1966 - March 16, 2013

Angels Camp resident Erik Stevenson died March 16 at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. He was 46.

Mr. Stevenson was born in Mountain View to Donna and Robert Stevenson. He lived in Calaveras County for about the last 10 years.

He worked as a correctional officer at Sierra Conservation Center near Jamestown for the past six years. Prior to that he was employed at Gallo Winery in Modesto.

He enjoyed target-shooting and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his wife, Jeannie Stevenson, of Angels Camp; son, Trevor Stevenson, of Avery; his parents, Robert and Donna Stevenson, of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Frank DeFilippis, of Newport, Ore.; one nephew; and one niece.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church, 1209 South Highway 49, San Andreas.
