Geraldine Gwen (Casey) Hill

Arnold resident Geraldine Gwen Hill died Feb. 1 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 68.
Mrs. Hill was born in Albuquerque, N.M., to Una and Viola Casey. She and her family lived in Oregon for a few years before living in Santa Cruz for about 20 years. She later settled in Arnold where she raised her children and lived the rest of her life.
She worked as a bank teller at Bank of America in Santa Cruz for many years and an office manager for an Arnold homeowners association for almost 20 years.
Mrs. Hill enjoyed reading books and writing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Eugene and Edwin "Frank" Casey.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Hill, of Arnold; children, Kim Turner, of Bealeton, Va., Joe Hill II, of Henderson, Nev., Kandy Rakoncza, of La Grange, and Daniel Hill, of Arnold; eight grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel in the Pines, 2286 Cedar Lane, Armold.

Norma Jean Manners

Angels Camp resident Norma Jean Manners died Jan. 24 at her home. She was 83.
Mrs. Manners was born in Clarkston Heights, Wash., to Dorothy "Dot" Whitley.
She worked as a licensed vocational nurse for 20 years at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital, Mark Twain Medical Center, Palm Drive Hospital, in Sebastopol, and various Native American clinics. She was also a lifelong collector of antiques, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Manners was preceded in death by her brother, John Whitley, about 10 years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart Manners, of Angels Camp; her children and their spouses, Catherine and John Braudrick, of Dobbins, in Yuba County, Carolyn Crockett, of Stockton, and David and Kristen Manners, of Port Townsend, Wash.; brother, Ray Sackett, of Boise, Idaho; sisters; Donna Scallin, of Pleasant Hill, and Susan Henley, of Napa.
A memorial gathering will be held 2 p.m. May 4 at Murphys Masonic Hall, 384 Church St.

Patrick Daniel Parrish

Sonora resident Patrick Daniel Parrish died Feb. 10 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 60.
Mr. Parrish was born in Oceanside and raised in Bellflower, Los Angeles County. He graduated from Bellflower High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1978.
He enjoyed dogs, horses and other animals, as well as searching for treasure.
Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his fiancée, Gail Jacobs, of Sonora; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Garfield Morgan, of Sonora; brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Melissa Parrish, of Ripon; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora, which is also handling arrangements.
Ronald Richard Snell

Ronald R. Snell, of Florence, Ariz., died Feb. 1 at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler, Ariz. He was 82.
Dr. Snell was born in Portland, Ore., to Clarence and Clara Snell, and grew up in St. Paul, Minn. He moved to Arizona with his parents and later to California.
He attended City College of San Francisco, University of California, Berkeley, and San Francisco, earning a degree in dental surgery with a specialization in orthodontics.
Dr. Snell moved to Tuolumne County in 1970 and opened an orthodontic practice in Sonora. He originally lived in Groveland and later renovated and moved into what is now the Union Hill Inn, at the corner of Highway 49 and Parrotts Ferry Road.
Dr. Snell practiced in Sonora for three decades, retiring in 1999. He and his wife, Sue, traveled the United States in their motorhome for 11 years, beginning in 1998. During their travels they visited all of the 48 contiguous United States, as well as Canada and Alaska.
He enjoyed flying his Cherokee Arrow private plane, driving horse carts and buggies, and traveling in his motorhome.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Snell, of Florence, Ariz.; his daughters, Karrie Bassler, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Loreé Kramer, of Lebanon, Ore.; his sons, Barry Snell, of Banning, and Jason Snell, of Mill Valley; brother, Clarence Raymond Snell, of Sonora; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 28, at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Ariz.
