Edith Likout, a four-year resident of Sonora, died Dec. 14 at Sonora Regional Memorial Center's Long Term Care center. She was 90.

Mrs. Likout was born in New York, N.Y., the daughter of Alfred and Jeanie Price.

She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Craig Likout, of Arizona.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Alfred Likout, of Sonora.

No services are planned. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Laurie Jo Meyer

Oct. 22, 1963 - Nov. 23, 2012

Jenny Lind resident Laurie Jo Meyer died Nov. 23 at her home. She was 49.

Ms. Meyer was born in Sacramento to Diane Gilliland. She was adopted at birth by John and Lois Meyer.

She was raised in Jenny Lind and graduated from Calaveras High School.

Ms. Meyer earned a degree in business with an emphasis in banking from Heald College in Stockton in the mid-1980s.

She was a homemaker, and enjoyed playing softball.

Ms. Meyer was preceded in death her parents, John Meyer, in 1985, and Lois Meyer, in 1999.

She is survived by her birth mother, Diane Gilliland, of Linden; her son, Jacob Butler, of Valley Springs; her granddaughter, Palynn Butler, of Texas; her brothers and their spouses, John and Denise Meyer, of Jenny Lind, Michael and Irene Berg, of Linden, and Jeff and Nicole Berg, of Stockton; her aunt, Dixie Evans, of Stockton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life and potluck reception will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hogan Observation Point in Valley Springs.

Joyce Donna Pfeiffer

Feb. 9, 1948 - Jan. 1, 2013

Sonora resident Joyce Donna Pfeiffer died Jan. 1 at her home. She was 64.

Mrs. Pfeiffer, a native of Montebello, Los Angeles County, graduated from Montebello High School before attending Biola University in La Mirada for two years. She also studied for a year at Life Bible College in Los Angeles.

She married Gary Pfeiffer on July 18, 1970, at Chapel in the Pines in Twain Harte. The couple decided to settled in the area and raise their family.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was a talented vocal coach and pianist, her family said. She taught piano for almost 15 years to students of all ages.

She enjoyed healthy cooking, knitting, traveling to new places and attending classic car shows.

Mrs. Pfeiffer is survived her husband of 42 years, Gary Pfeiffer, of Sonora; her mother, Janice Higgins, of Sonora; her children and their spouses, Bethany and Mark Meadors, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Josh and Tara Pfeiffer, of Copperopolis, Justin and Keely Pfeiffer, of Sonora, Jake and Sara Pfeiffer, of Columbia, Mo., Joseph Pfeiffer and his fiancée, Mikhaila Gallwitz, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and foster daughter, Heidi Morton and her husband, Barak, of Angels Camp; 13 grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Jill and Gary Fenati, of Costa Mesa, Tom and Donna Higgins, of Redding, Joanie and Kenn Gulliksen, of Costa Mesa; her sister-in-law, Kathy Egger and her husband, Gary, of Tuolumne; her brothers-in-law, Greg Pfeiffer, of Tuolumne, and David Pfeiffer, of Hamilton, Mont.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel in the Pines, 18580 Cherokee Drive, Twain Harte.

Shirley Jean Richardson

March 24, 1939 - Dec. 23, 2012

Shirley Jean Richardson, of Hathaway Pines, died Dec. 23 at the Kindred Hospital in Folsom. She was 73.

Mrs. Richardson was born in Turlock, the daughter of Vera White and Jim White.

She graduated from Stanislaus State University with a major in social sciences and spent the past 20 years as a real estate agent in Calaveras County. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose organization.

Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her son, Michael James Beeson.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Richard Richardson, of Hathaway Pines; her daughter, Cheryl Focha, of Modesto; a grandson, Daniel Focha, of Modesto; stepsons, Curtis Richardson, of Vallecito, and Bradley Richardson, of Jamestown; a sister, Barbara Williams, of San Jose; and a brother, Jim White, of Manteca.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge in White Pines near Arnold. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at donate.aspca.org, or the Humane Society. Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

Irene 'Many Eagles' Norma Telles Wilson

March 10, 1930 - Dec. 8, 2012

Former longtime Tuolumne resident Irene "Many Eagles" Norma Telles Wilson died Dec. 8 at her home in Carson City, Nev. She was 82.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Anthony, N.M., of Cherokee Indian descent.

She lived on the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Rancheria for many years. Her late husband, Lawrence Wilson, was a Native American spiritual adviser.

Mrs. Wilson enjoyed Native American craft-making and culture. She spent much of her time outdoors and spent many summers at the Tuolumne River Ranch campground. She also enjoyed traveling and was known for her kind nature.

She moved to Southern California several years ago to be near family, and to Carson City in October to be near the hot springs.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Law" Wilson, in 2008; her brother, John G. Telles; sons, William Reyes Jaco and Joseph Daniel Garcia; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Wilson, in 2009.

She is survived by her siblings, Reyes V. Telles Jr., of Vista, San Diego County, Sylvia Lopez, of Riverbank, and Tillie Davis, of Carson City; her children and their spouses, Lucy Vazquez, of Bermuda Dunes, Riverside County, Carmen and Jim Carlo, of Bermuda Dunes, Mary and Lenny Olivas, of Santa Rosa, Alphonso and Carol Garcia, of Aptos, and John Jaco, of Vacaville; her grandchildren; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and James Forde, of Tuolumne; nieces and nephews, LeeAnn and Vince Brown, of Tuolumne, Loren and Cynthia Forde, and Laura Forde, all of Tuolumne; numerous nieces, nephews and friends throughout California; and eight great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Indian Cemetery on Tuolumne Road North. A dinner will follow at the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Rancheria Tribal Hall.


ROMERO - Sylvia Romero, the infant daughter of Jose Romero and Teresa Garcia, of Jamestown, died Thursday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

SHIPLEY - Esther Shipley, 91, of Sonora, died Dec. 29 at Avalon Care Center of Sonora. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

STELLING - Erika Stelling, 75, of Sonora, died Monday while visiting Montville, N.J, for the holidays. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
