Edward 'Mike Bearpaw' G. Rehan

Jan. 20, 1939 - Dec. 6, 2012

Edward "Mike Bearpaw" G. Rehan, of Glencoe, died Dec. 6 at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. He was 73.

Mr. Rehan was born in Sioux City, Iowa. His Sioux Indian grandmother dubbed him "Mike Bearpaw," his preferred name throughout life.

He was a commercial airline pilot. He previously served as a military patrolman in the Army Air Force and worked for Greyhound as a bus driver. He also volunteered his time to feed more than 6,000 needy people in Oakland.

Mr. Rehan is survived by his wife, Linda Jessop, of Glencoe; children, Michael Rehan, of Ria Vista and daughter, Mary Rehan, of Fremont; stepchildren, Pamela Hendricks, of Pioneer, Deborah Nixon, of Citrus Heights, and Matthew Jessop, of Pioneer.

Services were held Friday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in San Andreas. San Andreas Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

HIRTZEL - Rodney Allen Hirtzel, 74, of Jamestown, died Wednesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 13880 Joshua Way, Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
