Sonja (Raley) Johnson

May 12, 1966 - Oct. 19, 2012

Sonora resident Sonja (Raley) Johnson died Friday at her home. She was 46.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Modesto to Barbara West and William Raley.

She graduated from Downey High School in Modesto in 1984.

She married George Johnson on Feb. 21, 1988 at a small chapel in Lodi.

They settled in Sonora 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker for the past 26 years. Ten years ago her husband founded the Lakeridge Community Church in Sonora. According to her family, she kept busy with the duties of being a pastor's wife.

She enjoyed gardening, painting and making crafts to give children during the holidays.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her sister, Dena Raley, in 1999.

She is survived by her husband, George Johnson, of Sonora; her mother, Barbara West, of Modesto; her son, Benjamin Johnson, of Los Angeles; her brother, Robert West, of Modesto; her nephew, Nathaniel West, of Modesto; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Country Cowboy Church, 14888 Peaceful Valley Road, East Sonora. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Susan Kathleen Reid

Sept. 11, 1957 - Oct. 17, 2012

Angels Camp resident Susan Kathleen Reid died Oct. 17 at Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital in San Andreas. She was 55.

Ms. Reid, born in San Andreas, was a lifelong Calaveras County resident.

She enjoyed cooking, driving on the back roads of Calaveras County, action movies and horses.

Ms. Reid is survived by her fiance, Mitchell Clarke, of Angels Camp; her children, Teresa Pry and her husband, Nathan, and Tony Reid, all of Angels Camp; and her granddaughter, Allison Pry, of Angels Camp.

A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Angels Memorial Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Angels Camp. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


GINOTTI - Leana Ginotti, 64, of Mi-Wuk Village, died Wednesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center long-term care unit. Heuton Memorial is handling arrangements.

HUTCHINS - A graveside service will be held for Marjorie Jean Hutchins, 79, of Sonora, at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery, Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

NIEVES-CORTES - Agustin Nieves-Cortes, 53, of Burson, died Oct. 15 in an auto accident in Burson. Services were held on Oct. 20 at Angels Memorial Chapel, which also handled arrangements.

SCHOENBERGER - A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Donald Gene Schoenberger, 80, of Sonora, at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SEGERSTROM - A celebration of life will be held for Mary Etta Segerstrom, 82, of Sonora, at 3 p.m. Friday at the Sonora Opera Hall, 250 S. Washington St., Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
