Robert Ulen Ford

Oct. 25, 1928 - July 25, 2012

Copperopolis resident Robert Ulen Ford died July 25 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 83.

Mr. Ford was born in Inglewood. He and his life partner, Shirley Jacob, moved to Copperopolis in 2004 to be closer to family.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he worked as a laborer and brick mason.

He obtained a teaching credential from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles and became an elementary school teacher. He later earned a doctorate from United States International University. He was a professor of psychology for many years at Pepperdine University and El Camino College in Torrance.

After he retired from teaching, Ford continued to practice psychology in Yuba City and later Rancho Bernardo after moving to San Marcos.

He grew kiwi fruit and enjoyed the outdoors, especially river rafting, mountain climbing, camping and skydiving. He was a skilled woodworker and craftsman.

Mr. Ford is survived his life partner, Shirley Jackson, of Copperopolis; his son and daughter-in-law, Kirk Ford and Jenny Matkin, of Long Barn; his sister, Darlene Traino, of La Quinta, his grandchildren, Lara McNicol, of Tuolumne, and Travis Ford, of Folsom; one great-grandchild; and one cousin.

Wilma Ruth Emig

Feb. 12, 1921 - July 23, 2012

Sonora resident Wilma Ruth Emig died July 23 at the Sonora Regional Medical Center long term care unit. She was 91.

Mrs. Emig was born in Napa and moved to Sonora 25 years ago after retiring from work as a school secretary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and traveling.

Among her favorites places to visit was the ocean.

Mrs. Emig was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Nancy Emig Montoya, in 2009.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Walter Emig, of Sonora; her children, Bill Hastings, of Sebastopol, and Judy Hodges and her husband, Del, of Sonora; stepson, Richard Emig and his wife, Anna, of Santa Rosa; son-in-law, Anthony Montoya, of Santa Rosa; and six grandchildren, Will Hodges, of Rohnert Park, Carrie Hodges, of Roseville, Daniella and Matthew Montoya, of Santa Rosa, Kristina Emig, of Arizona, and Michael Emig, of Santa Rosa.

Raymond Francis Nicolini

June 27, 1931 - July 30, 2012

Jamestown resident Raymond Francis Nicolini died July 30 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 81.

Mr. Nicolini was born in Sonora to John and Annie Nicolini.

He worked as a cattle rancher in Algarine in the Jamestown area for over 60 years and had a second career working for Caltrans, which he did for 43 years.

He also was a member of the California National Guard for nine years, from 1947 to 1956.

Mr. Nicolini was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Nicolini Jr.; his sister, Rose Pardina; and his nephew, Gregory John Nicolini.

He is survived his wife of 57 years, Carol Nicolini, of Jamestown; sons, Russell Joseph Nicolini, of Turlock, and Steven Louis Nicolini, of Oakdale; five grandchildren, Gabby and Raymond Nicolini, of Sonora, Kristen Nicolini, of Turlock, and Katie and Patrick Nicolini, of Oakdale; six grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.

Debra Jean Webbon

Jan. 13, 1955 - July 31, 2012

Jamestown resident Debra Jean Webbon died July 31 at home. She was 57.

Ms. Webbon was born in Miami, Fla., to Warren and Barbara Webbon. She grew up in the Bay Area.

She moved to Tuolumne County 30 years ago to be closer to family and moved in with her daughter, Melissa, last year due to her illness.

She worked in customer service for 20 years.

She enjoyed camping, boating and sports.

Mrs. Webbon was preceded in death by her mother, in 1996, her father, in 2003; and nephew, Mitchell Dahl, in 2004.

She is survived her twin daughters, Melissa Fagnani and her husband, Tim, of Jamestown, and Megan Webbon, of Las Vegas, Nev.; siblings, Millie Dahl and her husband, Alan Dahl, of Tuolumne; and Elmer Webbon, of Sonora; and nephews, Jeremy Webbon, of Soulsbyville, and Aaron Webbon, of Redding.

Services will be held privately.

Donald Leon Buckley

June 7, 1932 - July 30, 2012

Sonora resident Donald Leon Buckley died July 30 at Avalon Care Center of Sonora. He was 80.

Mr. Buckley was born in Huron, S.D. His family moved to Berkeley when he was 9 years old.

He and his wife, Gloria Buckley, left the Bay Area for Sonora 12 years ago to be closer to family.

He earned a master's degree in mathematics from University of California, Berkeley. He worked as a computer programmer and analyst for Moore Business Forms and Lucky Stores for 30 years.

Mr. Buckley served as a U.S. Army radio operator during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Sonora United Methodist Church and Theta Pi church group in Berkeley. It was through Theta Pi that he met his wife.

Mr. Buckley was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Myrtle Buckley, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Celina and Phil Russo.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria, of Sonora; his daughters and their husbands, Lois and David Magdefrau, of Jacksonville, Fla., Theresa and Ernest Truscott, of Tracey, and Donna and Jerry Jones, of Sonora; and his grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Jones, of Sonora, Heather Jones and Ron Melendrez, of Copperopolis, Stefanie Jones-Meyer and her husband, Jeremy, of Jamestown, and E.J. Truscott, of Tracy
