Roy King

March 30, 1944 – July 9, 2012

San Andreas resident Roy King died Monday at his home. He was 68.

Mr. King was born in Sutter Creek. He lived in the San Andreas area for 50 years.

He worked as a pile driver for various companies throughout the area for 27 years until retirement. He enjoyed hunting and motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidsons. He and his family attended the Street Vibrations Motorcycle Festival in Reno, Nevada, for many years.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Carol King, in 2007.

He is survived by his son, Davis King and his wife, Lisa, of San Andreas; his daughter, Kelly King, of Sonora; his grandchildren, Jay Hix Jr., Derek Hix, Jacob David Alexander King and Cayla Jean King; and close family friend, Rochelle "Baby Biker" Walker.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Heuton Memorial Chapel.

Orley M. Berg

Aug. 11, 1918 - July 10, 2012

Sonora resident Orley M. Berg died Tuesday at his home. He was 93.

Mr. Berg was born in Escondido. He retired to Sonora 12 years ago.

He worked for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church as a minister and administrator for more than 50 years. He enjoyed traveling and visited religious sites Israel, Egypt and Syria many times, where he participated in archaeological excavations. He and his wife also spent two years in Bangkok, Thailand, six months in Durban, South Africa, and moved around to several American cities as part of his service to the church.

Mr. Berg was preceded in death by his sons, David Berg, in 2002, and John Berg, in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Olive Ellen (Etter) Berg, of Sonora; his daughter, Shirlee Goodgame and her husband, David, of Jamestown; his grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon Berg and Mariano Morales, of Baltimore, Md., Peter and Lori Goodgame, of Kailua, Hawaii, Nathanael and Rhean Goodgame, of Rancho Cordova; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Sonora.

Lynn W. Proctor

June 6, 1927 - June 21, 2012

Former Sonora resident Lynn W. Proctor died at Meadow View Manor in Soulsbyville. She was 85.

Mrs. Proctor born in Visalia to Olga and L.J. Williams.

She graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in biology, a master's degree in education and a credential to teach kindergarten through 12th grade.

At Stanford, she met her future husband Warren G. Proctor, a physicist.

She and her husband moved to Europe and lived in France, Holland and Switzerland, where they settled to raise their family. She moved to Twain Harte in 1978 after she and her husband divorced. She enjoyed walking and hiking local trails.

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Dylan, Jan Robinson, and Heidi Thibault, all of Sonora; grandchildren Taya, Aaron, Elissa, Johnny, Amber and Austen; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Linda Diane (Gentry) Weir

Jan. 26, 1951 - June 25, 2012

Angels Camp resident Linda Diane (Gentry) Weir died June 25 at her home. She was 61.

Mrs. Weir was born in Watsonville.

She attended Aromas Elementary School, Watsonville High School and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. She worked for the Sun Bulletin and Telegram Tribune. She was also a dispatcher for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department.

She married Charles "Chuck" Weir in 1983. Soon after, the couple purchased a 20-acre ranch in Angels Camp. She was involved in animal rights causes and was a member of the Calaveras Humane Society and the Morris Animal Foundation. She had many animals, including horses, dogs and cats, several of which she rescued.

Mrs. Weir was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Gentry.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years; her mother, Wanda Gentry, of Lincoln; her sister, Susan Udsen and her husband, Jim, of Brazil; her niece and nephew, Nicole and Steve Udsen, of Brazil; and many cousins.

A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Morris Animal Foundation or the Calaveras Humane Society.

HOLM - Katherine Marie Holm, 101, of Tuolumne, died Thursday at Sonora Regional Medical Center long term care unit. A graveside service was scheduled at 12:30 p.m. today at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Modesto. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

KETCHUM - Herbert Eugene Ketchum, 93, of Valley Springs, died July 2 at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, which is also handling arrangements.
