Gwenola Ellen Beebe

Mokelumne Hill resident Gwenola Ellen Beebe died July 1 at Sutter Amador Hospital. She was 94.
Mrs. Beebe was born in Cortez, Colo. She lived in Mokelumne Hill for 71 years.
She was a member of the Mokelumne Hill Community Church and the Calaveras County Historical Society, was a volunteer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and an actress in community theater.
Mrs. Beebe was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Beebe, in 1971; and her children, James Beebe and Sharon Larson.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Michelle McMillan, of Mokelumne Hill, Jeff Larson, of Dayville, Ore., and Pat Larson, of Whitebird, Idaho; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 6 at Mokelumne Hill Community Church.

Gene M. 'Geno' Bloechl
June 27, 1944 - July 5, 2012
Former Angels Camp resident Gene M. "Geno" Bloechl died Thursday at his home in Livermore. He was 68.
Mr. Bloechl was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved to California in 1967. He lived in Menlo Park for 30 years before moving to Angels Camp, where he lived for five years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed writing music and playing instruments, especially the drums and keyboard. He was in several bands during his life. He enjoyed vacations in Hawaii, home design and gardening. He was a fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team.
Mr. Bloechl is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Bloechl, of Livermore; and his sons, Drew Bloechl, of Mountain View, and Jamison Bloechl, of Santa Clara.
A celebration of life was held Monday at Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos.

'Ellie' (Casper) Hauser

Sonora resident Eleanor Edith "Ellie" (Casper) Hauser died July 1 at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. She was 89.
Mrs. Hauser was born in Omaha, Neb., to John M. and Viola E. Casper.
She married Lester O. Wicke in 1943 and later divorced. She married Roy Hauser in 1971 and was married until his death in 1977.
At her 50th high school class reunion, she was reunited with her high school boyfriend, Richard E. Gallup. She lived with Mr. Gallup in Brookings, Ore., until his death in 2001.
She managed Independence Square, a senior living community, in Watsonville for five years until her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and socializing.
In addition to Mr. Hauser and Mr. Gallup, she was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Viola E. Casper; and her brother, John Casper.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry A. Berman, and his wife, Marsha, of Indio, and Marsha Kelly, and her husband, Robert, of Soulsbyville; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. July 21 at Felton Cemetery in Felton.

Judith L. Hayes

Valley Springs resident Judith L. Hayes died June 27 at her home. She was 66.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Her family moved to Oakland when she was a child in the early 1950s. She lived in several cities in the East Bay Area before settling in Valley Springs in 1985.
Her first marriage in 1962 produced two children before it ended in divorce in 1971. In 1973, she married Mercer P. Hayes Jr. They were married until his death in 2010.
She was a writer, with three published books and a website called "The Happy Heretic." She enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley, poetry, photography and nature.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her children, Deborah Kolsrud and Robert Shortt; her siblings, Marilyn Gillespie and Robert Meyer; and four grandchildren.
No services will be held.

Gayle Ruth Johnson

Sonora resident Gayle Ruth Johnson died Friday at her home. She was 53.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Bloomington, Ill., to Charles Hanes and Ruth Eneman Hanes.
She lived in Tuolumne County for 42 years. She was a homemaker and businesswoman. She and her husband, Rodney Johnson, owned Barendregts Grocery in Jamestown for the past 20 years. She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables and also operated a Christmas tree farm.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her mother; her uncle, Norman Hanes; and her grandparents, Fredolf and Selma Eneman.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Rodney Johnson, of Sonora; her children, Brian Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Andrea Johnson and Laura Johnson, all of Sonora; her brothers, John Hanes and Mitchell Hanes; and her grandson, Dylan Wardwell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Sierra, 20100 Cedar Road North, Sonora, 536-5685.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora.
