Frederick James 'Jim' Ardern Jr.

April 23, 1925 - June 11, 2012

Sonora resident Frederick James "Jim" Ardern Jr. died June 11 at Avalon Care Center. He was 87.

Mr. Ardern was born in Freeport, Ill., and was a World War II veteran. He was a retired computer programmer analyst and active in his church.

He enjoyed classical music and played the piano. His interests also included traveling, animals, tinkering with things and brain teaser puzzles. He lived in Fresno and West Sacramento before moving to Sonora.

Mr. Ardern was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Ardern Sr., in 1955 and Helen Ardern, in 1945; and sisters Mary, in 1993 and Esther, in 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clarissa Krugh Ardern, of Sonora; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin Ardern Vogel and Kenneth Vogel, of Sonora; and grandchildren, Jennifer Ardern, of Sonora, Timothy Ball Jr. and his wife, Jennifer Ball, of Westport, Wash., Amanda Vogel, of Tempe, Ariz., and David Vogel, of Sonora.

A service will be held at noon July 8 at Hope Lutheran Church, 364 E. Barstow Ave., Fresno.

Burial will be at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Homer, Ill.

A donation in his name may be made to Alzheimer's research or to a favorite charity.

Patricia (Kelly) Ramsey

June 1, 1942 - June 17, 2012

Sonora resident Patricia (Kelly) Ramsey died June 17 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 70.

Mrs. Ramsey was born in Atlanta and worked as a property manager for 17 years. She lived in Sonora for four years.

She enjoyed painting, art and collecting porcelain dolls.

She is survived by her husband, Phil Ramsey, of Sonora; her mother, Dorothy Kelly, of Crescent City; children Robert Charlton, of Sacramento and Debbie Burkhart, of Russellville, Tenn.; brothers Bill Kelly, of Lancaster, Mike Kelly, of San Jose, and David Kelly, of Sacramento; and her sister, Kathy Kelly, of Crescent City.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Heuton Memorial Chapel.

Shawn Robert Gonzales-Bader

Nov. 11, 1992 - June 12, 2012

Tuolumne County native Shawn Robert Gonzales-Bader died June 12 at his Sonora home. He was 19.

He was a ranch hand for two years. Other interests included football, four-wheeling and rodeo.

He was on the 2011 and 2012 Tug of War champion teams at the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Paula Smith, of Chinese Camp; a brother, Martin Bader, of Sonora; a stepbrother, Cory Smith, of Utah; a stepsister, April Smith, of Turlock; grandparents, Connie and Gordon Perry, of Sonora, and Delores and Alvaro Mejia, of Twain Harte; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services have been held.

BARKER - James Barker, 72, of Sonora, died June 5 at a San Rafael rehabilitation center. Keaton's Mortuary of San Rafael handled arrangements.
