Darryl Eugene Knight

March 15, 1948 - Dec. 10, 2011

Mokelumne Hill resident Darryl Eugene Knight died Dec. 10 at his home. He was 63.

Born in Long Beach, to Eleanor and Clinton Knight, he attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

He worked for the San Joaquin County Probation Department for 30 years.

He married Debbie Shulman on July 12, 2003.

He lived in Mokelumne Hill for seven years.

Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Debbie Knight, of Mokelumne Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Jake Schaad, of West Point; grandchildren, Audriana and Tanner Schaad, both of West Point; and sister and brother-in-law, Darrylin and Larry Liebig, of Woodbridge.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at his home in Mokelumne Hill.

Donations can be made to a local charity of your choice.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

James L. Timm

Aug. 8, 1937 - Dec. 8, 2011

Sonora resident James L. Timm died Dec. 8 at his home. He was 74.

Born in Laport, Ind., to Kathleen Howard and Harmon Timm, he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, as a staff sergeant and went to Germany.

Following his military service, he worked at a paper mill, as a mortician, ambulance driver and a milk delivery man.

He also worked for General Dynamics in Pomona, as a Calibration Technician during the Apollo Space Mission, and helped develop fire retardant paint used on aircraft carriers while working at Aerojet technologies.

In 1967, he graduated from Mt. San Antonio College in Pomona, where he majored in law enforcement.

He worked as a prison guard for the California Institute for Men and California Rehabilitation Center, both in Chino.

In the early 1970s, he moved to Sonora and began working for the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown where he worked for 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant.

After his retirement, he moved to Pismo where he managed several resorts.

In 2009, he moved back to Sonora to be closer to his children.

He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks Lodges, and the American Legion in Pismo.

He enjoyed fixing things, being outdoors and helping others.

Mr. Timm is survived by his stepfather, Clifford Smith, of Upland; sisters, Peggy Earwood, of Upland, and Patti Smith, of Ohio; children, Jeff, Jenny, and Jimmy Timm, all of Sonora; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Reel and Bonnie Smith; and his former wife, Linda Hartz.

No service is scheduled.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


VONICH - Robert Vonich, 54, of Columbia died Thursday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
