'Willie' Miller

Former Vallecito resident Wilma "Willie" L. Miller died Thursday at her home in Newport, Wash. She was 78.

Born in Stockton to Rose and Clifton Mitchell, she was raised on a cattle ranch in Vallecito and went to school in Tuolumne County.

She was a school teacher for 37 years.

She moved to Newport, Wash., in 2006.

She enjoyed being a teacher.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, David F. Miller, of Newport, Wash.; stepson, Steven Miller, of Tuscany; grandson, Cash Miller, of Tuscany; brother and sister-in-law, Mills and Claire Mitchell, of Thompson Falls, Mont.; an aunt and uncle, of Jamestown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all from California.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ronald Kirk

Sept. 10, 1937 - Nov. 29, 2011

Jackson resident Ronald Kirk died Nov. 29 at his stepson's home in Coulterville. He was 74.

Born in Oakland to Marsh and Ethel Kirk, he worked numerous jobs throughout his life, including positions in the railroad and grocery distribution industries.

He lived in Jackson for 12 years.

He enjoyed golf and gardening.

Mr. Kirk is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kirk, of Jackson; children, Michael Baldwin, of Coulterville, and Deborah Knezic and Stephanie Tucker, both of Paradise; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Kirk.
