John Henry Muraira Sr.

Sonora resident John Henry Muraira Sr. died Monday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 87.
Born in Del Rio, Texas, to Enrique and Paula Muraira, he moved to California when he was 14 and was a radioman in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He owned and operated his own TV repair business before going to work for Sears in San Jose, where he worked for 16 years.
He lived in Sonora for 27 years.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in San Jose and Morgan Hill Mustangers, and was a member of Sons in Retirement and Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing, was a San Francisco 49ers fan, and owned horses and cows while living in San Jose.
Mr. Muraira is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine Muraira, of Sonora; children, John Jr. and wife Vivian Muraira, Fredrick Muraira, Nora Ochoa, and Debbie and husband Danny Garcia, all of San Jose; sister, Estolia Dominquez, of San Jose; grandchildren, Jacob Escalante, Sunny Ochoa, and Danny Jr. and Danielle Garcia, all of San Jose, Hunter Muraira, of Portland, Ore., Stephanie Muraira, of Fresno, and Camielle Peck, Orlando Vasquez, and Aaron Sandoval, all of La Verne; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Sandoval; four sisters; and two brothers.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, to be followed by a graveside service with veterans honors from VFW Post 3154 at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery.

Ebbetts Pass firefighter Todd Elliot Walker died Nov. 28 during a drive with his family on French Camp Road in Manteca. He was 38.
Born in Denver, Colo., to Karen Ippolito and Rodney Walker, growing up he enjoyed sports, especially soccer, bike riding, cars and dirt bikes.
One of his first jobs was as a clerk in the St. Joseph's Medical Center Emergency Department in Stockton, which lead him to pursue a career as a paramedic and firefighter.
After finishing his paramedic training, he worked for the American Medical Response Ambulance Company in both Stockton and Calaveras County and volunteered for the Ripon Fire Department.
In 2002, he became a full-time firefighter with the Ebbetts Pass Fire Department, where he attained the rank of engineer. He enjoyed serving the rural communities.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Laura Walker, of Ripon; children, Trina, Morgan, Katelyn and Elliot Walker, all of Ripon; mother and stepfather, Karen and Domenic Ippolito, of Ripon; father, Rodney Walker, of Utah; siblings and their spouses, Antoinette and Randy Geiszler, of Valley Springs, Tonya and David Bowlsby, of Manteca, Aimee Walker and Annaliese Ippolito, both of Ripon, Joe and Lisa Ippolito, of Turlock, Kjerstin and Ryan Krohn, of Watertown, N.Y., and Kolby and Rachel Walker, of Oregon; and grandparents, Jim and Leota Odle, of Ripon.
His fifth child will be born in March.
A memorial service has already been held.
The Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel in Ripon is handling arrangements.
