Michelle 'Shelly' Lynn Serresseque

Dec. 26, 1969 - Nov. 12, 2011

Sonora resident Michelle "Shelly" Lynn Serresseque died Nov. 12 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto after a brief illness. She was 41.

Born in Burlingame to Frank and Patricia Serresseque, she worked as a caregiver for about 15 years. She lived in Sonora for three years.

She enjoyed animals.

She is survived by her parents, Patricia Serresseque, of Manchester, Ohio, and Frank Serresseque, of San Bruno; longtime partner, Richard Pollock, of Sonora; children, Ashley and Shane Garner, both of Sonora; siblings, Andrea Callari, of Folsom, and John Serresseque, of San Bruno; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Terzich and Wilson is handling arrangements.


'Woody' Wood

Aug. 21, 1940 - Nov. 18, 2011

Groveland resident Dennis "Woody" Wood died of natural causes Friday at Columbia State Historic Park. He was 71.

Born in Fallon, Nev., to Lois Bond Ellis and Myrle Woods, he owned and operated his own fire-sprinkler business, Driggs and Wood Protection, in Fremont for 42 years.

He lived in Groveland for three years.

He was a member of the Pine Cone Singers in Groveland, and coached Fremont Football Youth League for 18 years, where his players called him Coach Woody.

He enjoyed golf, singing and Pine Mountain Lake.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wood, of Groveland; children, Kim Wood, of Lagunitas, and D.J. Wood, of Hangtown; stepson and his wife, Troy and Shirley Lundquist, of Patterson; siblings, Robert Bond, of the Bay Area, Lee Ferguson, Mary Bates and Margarette Pritchard, all of Nevada, June Manhire, of Kingston, Nev., Melanie Grabe, of Crossville, Tenn., and Fay and husband Mark Voisard, of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Lillian and husband Shawn Pacheco, of Oakland, Katie Wilson, of Concord, Ben Dettrick, of Lagunitas, Dustin Lundquist, of Modesto, and Joseph and Evan Lundquist, both of Patterson; brothers-in-law, Tom and wife Jean Kasson, of Fremont, and John and Louise Gariepy, of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Nola and May Gariepy, both of Minnesota, Anna Erickson, of Colfax, and Vicki and husband Joe Thompson, Toledo, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Driggs.

A celebration of life is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Grill at Pine Mountain Lake in Groveland.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Big Oak Flats.

Richard 'Rick' Charles Guillotte

Dec. 26, 1930 - Nov. 17, 2011

Sonora resident Richard "Rick" Charles Guillotte died Thursday at his home. He was 80.

Born in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada, to Charles and Olive Guillotte, he moved to the United States when he was 14. He later became a U.S. citizen and joined the U.S. Air Force when he was 17, serving during the Korean War.

He went on to attend Ohlone College in Fremont.

He was a maintenance worker for the Food Machinery Corp. in Newark for 40 years.

He lived in Sonora for 21 years and was a member of the Sonora Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed camping, bowling and football.

Mr. Guillotte is survived by his wife of 34 years, Althea "Teddy" Guillotte, of Sonora; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Ann and Steve Shippy, of Wrightwood; grandchildren, Tina and husband Andrew Peek, of Truckee, and Jeff and Tyler Shippy, both of Wrightwood; sister, Elizabeth Navaro, of Woburn, Mass.; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bunty McLaughlin.

A service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora.

Lifelong Sonora resident Donald G. Hembree died Friday at his home. He was 56.

Born in Sonora to Jim and Sue Hembree, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 20 years.

He was the anchorman for the Jamestown Miners Tug-of-War team, and later because the team coach.

He was diagnosed with leukemia in 1994, which resulted in a benefit being held for him after he received a bone marrow transplant. Following this benefit, he and his family cut wood and donated it to other benefits to people in need.

He remarried his wife and caregiver, Cathy Hembree, eight days before he died.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and helping others in need.

Mr. Hembree is survived by his wife, Cathy Hembree, of Sonora; parents, Jim and Sue Hembree, of Sonora; children, Tami and husband Jeff Buzbee, of Oceanside, Denise Hembree, of Los Angeles, Dale Hembree, of Bakersfield, Dylan Hembree, of Modesto, and Derek and wife Jessica Adams, of Arizona; grandchildren, Cody, Mekenna, and Ethan Hembree, all of Sonora, Jaxon and Hendricks Adams, both of Arizona, and Sheldon and Elijah Buzbee, both of Oceanside; siblings, Karen and husband Tom Mihok, of Oakdale, and Bob Hembree, of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Posse Grounds, 19130 Rawhide Road, Jamestown.
