Flora Fulton

Former Tuolumne County resident Flora Fulton, 80, died Nov. 7 at her home in Nampa, Idaho. She was 80.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Harry and Iva May Bollinger, and moved with her family as a child to Los Angeles. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949 and married Ralph Lewis Shaver in 1950.

She graduated from East Los Angeles College Vocational Nursing School in September 1953.

She was active for most of her life in the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a majority member of Bethel No. 103 of California International Order of Job's Daughters. She was also a mother adviser in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.

She divorced her first husband, then married Robert Fulton in 1973. They relocated to Sonora, where they set up and ran Buckhorn Bait Farm on Woodhams Carne Road. She also worked at Sonora Community Hospital in the intensive care unit and birth center nursery until her retirement in 1997.

She was active in Standard Church, then Creekside Community Church, where she played the organ and provided flower arrangements for church services and weddings. She also created and was active in the Sierra Singles Club in Sonora.

After her retirement, she returned to Southern California to be close to friends and family. When her mobility decreased, she moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 2010 to be with her daughter, Diana Alvarez.

She was preceded in death by her son, Warren Shaver Sr.; grandson, Warren "Shorty" Shaver Jr.; brothers, Frank Bollinger and Harry "Sky" Bollinger Jr.; her parents; and husbands, Ralph Shaver and Robert Fulton.

Mrs. Fulton is survived by her daughters, Diana Alvarez, of Nampa, Idaho, and Carol Williams, of Montclair; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Dansie, of La Habra Heights; and a half-brother, John Tennyson, of La Habra.

Services will be held in Sonora in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to any animal rescue organization.

Larry Gohr

Aug. 14, 1939 - Nov. 12, 2011

Sonora resident Larry Gohr died Nov. 12 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 72.

Mr. Gohr was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Edward Gohr and Helen Dorothy Jackson Gohr.

He served in the U.S. Army. He worked in retail sales for 25 years, and lived in Sonora for eight years.

He enjoyed antique cars and hot rods, driving them and going on tours with the Mother Lode Antique Automobile Club of America in Sonora. He collected antique toys and airplanes. He and his wife were amateur collectors of rocks, minerals and fossils.

Mr. Gohr is survived by his wife, Ronni Gohr, of Sonora.
