Tommy Gwain Egger

Feb. 21, 1939 - Aug. 30, 2011

Coulterville resident Tommy Egger died Tuesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 72.

Born in Cherry Hill, Ark., to Mae Dawn and Naaman Egger, as a child he moved to Sugar Pine where he was raised with his two brothers.

He graduated from Sonora High School in 1956 and attended Modesto Junior College.

In 1961, he married Florence Gray, and shortly after began working as a powerhouse operator for Hetch Hetchy Water and Power, where he worked for 28 years.

While he was working at Hetch Hetchy the couple lived at Early Intake and Moccasin.

After his retirement in 1992, the couple moved to Groveland and then Coulterville.

He volunteered for the Sonora Police Department and at the Tuolumne County Senior Center. He was a Christian.

He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Sugar Pine near his childhood home, gold mining, gardening, spending time with his family and helping others.

Mr. Egger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Florence Egger, of Coulterville; mother, Mae Dawn Egger, of Sugar Pine; children and their spouses, Dawn and Mat Mariscal, of Coulterville, Tammy Egger, of Moccasin, and Rob and Joanna Egger, of Sonora; grandchildren, Dawnelle Dutton, of Groveland, Derek Mariscal, of San Diego, Hillary Mariscal, of Coulterville, and Dorian, Grayson and Gavin Egger, all of Sonora; brothers and their wives, Ernie and Mary Egger, of Soulsbyville, and Gary and Kathy Egger, of Tuolumne; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Naaman Egger.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel in the Pines Church in Twain Harte.

Barbara Lee Tuck

July 21, 1919 - Aug. 28, 2011

Former Twain Harte resident died Barbara Lee Tuck died Sunday at her home in Merced. She was 92.

She was born in Cathey's Valley, in Mariposa County, to Perle and Ernie Day.

She attended school in Cathey's Valley, which was settled by her family in 1852, and graduated from Mariposa High School in 1937. She went on to attend college in Stockton.

She married Doyle Tuck in Carson City, Nev., on July 5, 1940. The couple owned Tuck and Day Furniture in Merced during the 1950s and 60s. She also worked for Dr. Barger's Veterinarian Clinic in Merced.

The couple retired and moved to Twain Harte in 1980, where they lived for 24 years.

After her husband died in 2004, she moved to Merced.

She was a member of the Cathey's Valley Historical Society and helped restore the Cathey's Valley School. She also helped plan many family reunions in Cathey's Valley.

She enjoyed researching genealogy, traveling and spending time with her friends and family, especially her four great-grandsons.

Mrs. Tuck is survived by her children and their spouses, Douglas and Gail Tuck, of Vancouver, Wash., Virginia and David Harris, of Merced, and Dennis and Carolyn Tuck, of Twain Harte; grandchildren, Diane, Jeff, Jennifer, Matthew and Mike Tuck, David and Michael Harris, and Holly and husband Doug Sentell; and four great-grandsons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Stephen Harris, and brother Jack C. Day.

A service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Creekside Evangelical Free Church, 2876 G St., Merced.

Michelle Hull

Feb. 26, 1985 - Aug. 31, 2011

Former Valley Springs resident Michelle Hull died Wednesday at the San Bernardino Community Hospital in San Bernardino. She was 26.

Born in Sacramento, to Stephen and Ramona Hull, she lived the first four years of her life in Sacramento prior to an accident that broke her neck and left her dependent on life support.

After three years in the Oakland Children's Hospital, she moved Valley Springs with her family.

She moved to El Dorado with her family after her father died in 1998.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, 4-H and being involved in church activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her service dog Sage.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Ramona Grace and Christopher Basel, of Overland Park, Kan.; siblings, Joseph and James Hull, both of Overland Park, and Stephanie Anne and Lori-Ann Hull, both of Sacramento; and grandmother, Patricia Cowles, of Placerville.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Hull; and grandparents, John and Lorraine Hull, and Benjamin Harvey Cowles.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at San Andreas Memorial Chapel.

She will be buried at the Jenny Lind I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jenny Lind, beside her father and brother.
