Zelma Olive

Zelma Olive Altmeyer, 96, of San Andreas died Jan. 19 at a San Andreas hospital.

Mrs. Altmeyer was born in Livermore and was a granddaughter of the pioneering McCumber family of Stanislaus County. She attended school in Modesto and Berkeley and lived in San Andreas in the 1920s.

She and her husband, Walter, returned to San Andreas from Redwood City in 1960 and stayed.

She was a teacher at Banner School in Valley Springs from 1925 to 1930 and a clerk at the San Andreas Post Office from 1963 to 1975.

After retirement, she was active in volunteer work for Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital and the Calaveras County Historical Society.

Mrs. Altmeyer is survived by two daughters, Carol Denisoff of Coarsegold and Shirley Hodnick of San Andreas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at San Andreas Community Covenant Church. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Acacia Memorial Park, Modesto. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
