Loretta Irene 'Lori' Brubaker

Loretta Irene "Lori" Brubaker, 66, of Murphys died Monday at her home, after a battle with breast cancer.

Mrs. Brubaker was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Fort Madison, Iowa, and moved to California when she was a child. She had lived in Murphys for the past 20 years.

She attended elementary school and high school in California and graduated from Richmond High School in 1954. She started a career with the U.S. Forest Service in 1968 and continued as a personnel specialist with various government agencies until she retired in 1995.

Mrs. Brubaker is survived by her husband, Ted Brubaker of Murphys; a daughter, Kathy Sedler of Marysville; two sons, Ron McQuade of Kalispel, Mont., and Richard McQuade of Tonaskete, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Karen Modrich of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Kathy McCartney of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepson, Matt Brubaker of Murphys; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Johnston, in May 1996.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Mrs. Brubaker's home in Murphys. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Frank R.Armenta

Frank R. Armenta, 58, of Sonora died Tuesday at his home, after a battle with cancer.

His family said he died peacefully.

Mr. Armenta was born in Ventura and had moved when he was 4 to Sonora, where he remained for the past 54 years.

He graduated from Sonora Elementary School at the dome on Barretta Street and was a 1962 graduate of Sonora High School, where he played on the football team.

After working for the Tuolumne County Road Department for seven years, he began a 33-year career with PG&E.

He liked working around his home and on classic cars and trucks. His wife said he was strictly a family man who enjoyed his home and his family. She said when he did a project, it was always done right.

Mr. Armenta is survived by his wife of 36 years, Annette Armenta of Sonora; a son, Joe Armenta of Sonora; two half-sisters, Teresa Orapeza and Margie Trujillo, both of Southern California; numerous nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, August Turriciano of Sonora.

No service will be held at his request. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

CROUCH Agnes Crouch, 98, of Sonora died early this morning at a Sonora care home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
