Helen Joyce Allen

Helen Joyce Allen, 67, of Jamestown died Tuesday at her home after a long illness.

Born in Denver, Ms. Allen was raised in Southern California and attended Newport Harbor High School. She had lived in Sonora for 14 years before moving to Jamestown to live with her niece, Karen Burkett, for the past year.

She worked as a waitress for many years and had been a bartender at the National Hotel in Jamestown.

She loved the beach, dune buggy racing, sketching and shopping.

Ms. Allen is survived by two daughters, Bethany Moessner of Chino Hills and Kathline Moessner of Tehachapi; a son, Donald Harper of Fresno; a sister, Pamela Willey Morris of Sonora; a brother, Glen Allen of Sonora; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Tommy, Andrew, Grant, Eric, Donald Jr. and Kevin.

Her family said they and her friends will greatly miss her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has been held.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Leslie Coon

Leslie Coon, 75, of Sonora died Wednesday at a Sonora hospital.

Mr. Coon was born in Chicago and had lived in Sonora for 13 years.

He served in the Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine and later was a sales manager for Donaldson Corporation for 25 years.

He was a member of Sonora Lion's Club.

Mr. Coon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Coon of Sonora; a son, Gary Coon of Fremont; two daughters, Cheryl Cool and Linda Coon, both of Sunnyvale; and a sister, Ann Kahana of Clinton, Idaho.

No service will be held. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
