(Fazzini) Collins

Groveland resident Loretta (Fazzini) Collins died June 13 at a Modesto hospital. She was 80.

Mrs. Collins was born in Clarksburg, W. Va., and lived in Groveland for 19 years. A homemaker for 60 years, she also taught preschool for many years. She was a member of Foothills Community Church of Groveland and loved to paint.

She is survived by her husband, Auddie Collins of Groveland; sons Joseph Iaquinta of Oklahoma City, Okla., Michael Iaquinta of Washington and Thomas Iaquinta of Pierre, S.D.; daughters Kathryn Richardson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Deidre Burgoin of Oakdale; brothers Robert Fazzini of Seattle, Wash., and Daniel Fazzini of Youngstown, Ohio; sisters Ruth Massonic, Rosalie Stemple of Parkersburg, W. Va., and Lucille Tamm of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services have been held.

Effie (Kelley) Harris

Longtime Sonora resident Effie (Kelley) Harris died June 9 at a Sonora hospital. She was 97.

Ms. Harris was born in Flip, Mo., and lived in Sonora for 34 years. She worked as a clerk for a U.S. Army depot for many years. She was a charter member of the American Association of Retired Person's Sonora chapter. She volunteered at the Tuolumne County Senior Center and enjoyed making crafts.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sue Harris of Sonora; her nephew, Tom Nielson of Modesto; and nieces Bobbie Bosley of Sacramento, Joyce Lupo and Sharon Dunbar, both of Sonora, Donna Brewer and Mary Machado, both of Jamestown, and Tammy Hunt of Stockton.

Services have been held.

Myron E.

'Mike' Kelly

Sonora resident Myron E. "Mike" Kelly died June 14 at a Tracy hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Kelly was born in San Francisco and joined the Army Air Corps when he was 17. He attended the University of San Francisco and officer's training school in Douglas, Ariz. He served in Word War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He began his career as a lieutenant at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield flying C54s and C47s. He served in the 89th Special Air Missions at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where he flew dignitaries from around the world. He was chief pilot, squadron commander during the presidential terms of Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. His last military posting was as commander of installation at the Tracy Supply Depot.

He retired as U.S. Air Force colonel in 1973 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed flying with the Rough and Ready Flying Club in Stockton. He also was a San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife of 30 years, Helen Bailor Kelly of Sonora; his stepdaughter, JoAnn Wubben; sons Michael Kelly of Bridgeton, Maine, Mark Kelly of New York City, and Matthew Kelly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his daughter, Sandy Kelly of Williams-town, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, including Craig Wubben of Roseville, Bradley Wubben of Tracy and Cyndi Ward of Manteca; five great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Patricia Kelly of Tracy.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Charles Steinmetz.

A donation in Mr. Kelly's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy. A memorial service and burial will begin at 2 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel. A reception will follow at the Tracy Moose Lodge, 35 E. Sixth St., Tracy. A reception is planned at 4 p.m. Friday at Steve's Place, 14551 Tuolumne Road, Sonora.

James Earl Thomas

Longtime Sonora resident James Earl Thomas died May 25 at a Turlock care home. He was 87.

Mr. Thomas was born in Tuolumne and graduated from Summerville High School. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps 91st bomber group. He worked as an airplane mechanic in Alameda.

He is survived by many family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Haydn-Meyer; and his brother, Ed Thomas.

Burial took place at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne.

HUTCHINS Dorothy June (Foster-Welle) Hutchins, 83, formerly of Sonora, died June 16 at her home in Manteca. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SPONSLER Alma Sponsler, 71, of Sonora, died Tuesday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

WEST-HAVILAND Margretha West-Haviland, 81, of Mountain Ranch, died Sunday at a San Andreas hospital. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
