Delbert Hamilton

Longtime Vallecito resident William Delbert Hamilton died Wednesday at a San Andreas hospital. He was 92.

He was born in Kansas and had lived in Vallecito for 28 years. He worked as a welder for 50 years and was an artist, focusing primarily on oil paintings.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Deno, of Chino Valley, Ariz., Billie Anne Hammer, of San Andreas, and S. Jeane Hamilton; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Angels Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Betty Ann Edgar

May 6, 1923 Nov. 30, 2005

Longtime Strawberry resident Betty Ann Edgar died Wednesday at her home. She was 82.

She was born in Oakland and had lived in Strawberry for 30 years. Her family owned a cabin in Pinecrest before owning a home in Strawberry. She was a member of the pioneer Stivers and Whipple families in Southern Alameda County. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland with honors. She taught English standard school at a sugar cane plantation in Kauai, Hawaii, where she met her husband. She taught for the Oakland Public Schools District for 30 years.

She was a member of Retired Teacher's Association and was an avid reader and storyteller who enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nancy Edgar, of Ukiah, and Kenneth and Pam Edgar, of Corvallis, Ore.; daughters and son-in-law, Marie and Robert Ilko, of San Diego, and Buffy Bandley, of Strawberry; grandchildren, Christopher Bandley, Randy and Billy Edgar, Shawn and Louanne Edgar, Jimmy and Robi Ilko, and Laura Brizzard; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Price, of Fremont; nieces, Susan and Frank Zima, and Melissa and John Fry; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edgar, a retired U.S. Army Major; and a granddaughter, Violet Ilko.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Emmiline Hibbs

Big Oak Flat resident Cora Emmiline Hibbs died Thursday at a Sonora hospital. She was 71.

She was born in Oklahoma and had lived in Big Oak Flat for 18 years. She was a homemaker. She played the guitar, sang when she was younger, and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ed Hibbs, of Big Oak Flat; a daughter, Velta Antone, of Big Oak Flat; granddaughters, Tina Dobler, and Connie Eads, both of Big Oak Flat; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ashley Eads, and Sierra Dobler; a brother, Edgar Guinn, of Oklahoma; sisters, Juanita Henderson, of Big Oak Flat, and Thelma Reisenberger, of Pennsylvania; and mother, Vaneda "Cotton" Guinn, of Oakdale.

At her request, no services are scheduled.

Muriel Eileen Sena

Longtime Sonora resident Muriel Eileen Sena died Nov. 26 at a Sonora hospital. She was 86.

She was born in Romsey, England, and had lived in Sonora since 1976.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Republican Women and Women's Aglow, a Christian group.

She enjoyed bowling, cooking and animals, and was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jose Sena, of Sonora; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Buddy Nunes, of Sonora, and Diane and Daymond Miller, of Gilroy; a brother, Chuck Brown, of Yountville, Napa County; a sister, Gwen Throckmorton, of San Jose; a sister-in-law, Ilda Hill, of Oroville; grandchildren, William "Buddy" Nunes, of Tulsa, Okla., Michelle Francis, of Sonora, Crystal Smith, of Tulsa, and Derek Nunes, of Sonora; great-grandchildren, Marina Francis, of Sonora, and Paul and Rebecca Nunes, of Tulsa; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held.

Numa Sue McNish

April 1, 1910 Nov. 22, 2005

Longtime Sonora resident Numa Sue McNish died Nov. 22 at a Sonora care home. She was 95.

She was born in Oakland and had lived in Sonora since 1980. She was retired from Mervyn's in Fremont. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest L. and Naomi Sessions, of Canyonville, Ore., and James R. and Jane McNish, of Sonora; a daughter, Gail McNish, of Medford, Ore.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held and private burial occurred at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Warm Springs.

Donations can be made to a favorite charity.

Chapel of the Roses in Fremont handled arrangements.

David Cresswell Volberg

Sept. 30, 1942 Nov. 26, 2005

Sonora resident David Cresswell Volberg died Nov. 26 at a Sonora hospital. He was 63.

He was born in San Francisco and had lived in Sonora for 11 years.

He was a maintenance worker for the U.S. Forest Service for five years and a member of Messengers Motorcycle Club.

He enjoyed playing 12-string guitar, planting flowers and trees, building model airplanes, animals, flying ultralight airplanes, boating, swimming, the mountains and the coast.

Mr. Volberg is survived by his wife, Rocky, of Sonora; sons and daughter-in-law, U.S. Army National Guard Spc. Robert Wilson, stationed in Iraq, and Marilyn Wilson, of Pennsylvania, and U.S. Marine Recruit Seth Richey, stationed in San Diego; a daughter, Danae Bellew, of Sonora; a granddaughter, Katie Wilson, of Pennsylvania; and cousins, Patrick Cootey, of Kamuela, Hawaii, and Robert Inman, of San Francisco.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Volberg.

A memorial service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Alano Club.
