Darling Sr.

Oct. 18, 1913 - Oct. 11, 2004

Longtime Tuolumne County resident Donald W. Darling died Monday at his son's home in Long Barn. He was 90.

Mr. Darling was born to Andrew Darling and Blanch Fannie Vose Darling at Kennedy Flat (Martell) in Amador County.

He graduated in 1930 from Jackson Union High School.

On March 2, 1936, he married Veta A. Proctor. They made their home in East Sonora, where they lived until her death in 1998.

He was retired, having worked for the Pino Vista, Mother Lode and Mountain View dairies, and as head custodian at Curtis Creek Elementary School.

In his early years, he had a fine tenor singing voice, said family members.

Mr. Darling was preceded in death by his wife, Veta, his parents, three sisters and a brother.

He is survived by twos sons, Donald Jr. of Loveland, Colo., and Robert of Long Barn; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Juanita Ruth

Former Sonora resident Juanita Ruth died Tuesday at a Riverside hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Ruth was born in Glen Rose, Texas. She lived in Delhi for many years, spent a short time in Hollister and lived for 10 years in Sonora before moving to Riverside 18 years ago.

She was a homemaker. Her family said she loved sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family. When her children were young, she made all of their clothes.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ray Ruth of Medford, Ore., Bob Ruth of Mesa, Ariz., and Michael and Barbara Ruth of Riverside; two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Sullivan of Jamestown and June and Bob Hannah of Atwater; two brothers, Charlie Hunter of Salinas and Tex Hunter of Tres Pinos, San Benito County; two sisters, Leona Valdez of Hollister and Alma Dent of Union City; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 55 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Ruth, in 1964; one son, Alton James Ruth, in 1935; one grandson, Tony Ruth, in 1987; one great-granddaughter, April Milbrandt, in 1993; two sisters, Ardella Hunter and Pauline Gomes; two brothers, Herman Hunter and Arnold Hunter; and her parents, Ray and Ora Hunter.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Whitehurst Norton and Dias Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Whitehurst Norton and Dias Chapel in Turlock, with burial at Turlock Memorial Park after the service.

Whitehurst, Norton and Dias Funeral Service in Turlock is handling arrangements.

TANNER Geraldine Tanner, 83, of Columbia died yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
