(Meyer) von Savoye

March 3, 1940 - June 21, 2004

Longtime Sonora resident Diane Lee (Meyer) von Savoye died Monday at her Sonora home after a long series of illnesses. She was 64.

She was born in Modesto and lived in Sonora all her life. She was a fourth-generation Tuolumne County resident and the daughter of Henry Wilson Meyer and Veryle Adeline Burns.

Her earlier years were spent at Sonora Grammar School ,where she was a student leader and a cheerleader from sixth- to eighth-grade. She also was a cheerleader at Sonora High School from the ninth-11th grades. She graduated in 1958.

She married her husband, Peter, when she was 18 and raised three children, Peter II, Lisa and Terry.

Her family said she was a loving and caring person who enjoyed being around her children and grandchildren and all their activities.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Peter von Savoye; children and their spouses, Peter "Rick" and Teresa von Savoye of Rocklin, Lisa von Savoye and Jo Ellen Lagg and Terry and Gary Haigh, all of Sonora; a sister and brother-in-law, Manon and Dale Clifton of Angels Camp; grandchildren, Krysta (Haigh) Wolken and her husband, Kurt, of Florida, David and William Haigh, both of Sonora, and Emily and Abigail von Savoye, both of Rocklin.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow at St. James' Episcopal Church in Sonora. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Wayne Ratliff

May 22, 1944 - June 20, 2004

Longtime Tuolumne County resident Wayne Ratliff died Sunday at his home. He was 60.

He was born in San Luis Obispo and lived in Tuolumne County for 55 years. He had lived in Jamestown since 1988. He worked as a spreaderman for Fibreboard Corp., now Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI), for more than 34 years.

He and his wife, Dorothy, were married in Sonora on March 20, 1961.

He was a member of AFLCIO, Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union No. 2652.

His family said he loved woodcutting, fishing, playing cards and his family and friends.

Mr. Ratliff is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Ratliff of Jamestown; daughters, Tina Ray of Jamestown, Yvonne Sawyer of Silverdale, Wash., and Pamela Cuneo of Sonora; brothers, Clyde Ratliff of Jamestown and Clayton Ratliff of Modesto; sisters, Margie Olson and Ruth Dekker, both of Modesto, and Betty Garcia of Napa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 34 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and his parents.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the gazebo in Rocca Park in Jamestown.
