Longtime Sonora resident Carol June Brumleve died Saturday at a Sonora hospital. She was 80.
She was born in Charleston, Ill., and had lived in Sonora since 1985.
Her family said she enjoyed being a pink lady at Sonora Community Hospital, now known as Sonora Regional Medical Center, volunteering at Good Stuff in Sonora and playing cards at the Tuolumne County Senior Center. She was an administrator at Grant Questa Convalescent Hospital in Mountain View before her retirement.
She was a member of the California Nursing Home Association. She enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, sewing and making crafts, her family said, and she and her husband enjoyed being docents in Columbia and traveling in their RV with the Mill Villa RV Group.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Perl of Columbia; a sister, Martha Walker of New Jersey; grandchildren, Amanda Lancaster, Megan Perl, Thomas and Lisa Brumleve and Sheila Aichele; great-grandchildren, Dylan Coyle, Anthony Brumleve, Curtis Aichele and Tyler; and nieces and nephews in New Jersey and Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Brumleve; and sons, Larry and Jim Brumleve.
No services are scheduled at her request.

Former Sonora resident Barton Lee Meredith died Tuesday at a Turlock medical center. He was 67.
He was born in Palo Alto and moved to Santa Barbara at a young age. He lived there until 1986.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-59, then went to work for General Motors in the engineering department in 1961. He worked for General Motors until 1992. He did engineering consulting for four years, then he and his wife and two younger sons traveled the United States for 16 months in a motorhome. They settled in Sonora from 1997-2001, where he worked for Aero Info Inc., in Sonora. Mr. Meredith worked for Gerling Applied Engineering in Modesto for the past three years.
He served on the founding elder board of Santa Inez Community Church and taught Bible studies to young people. He attended Sierra Bible Church in Sonora and Monte Vista Chapel while living in Turlock.
Mr. Meredith is survived by his wife, Colette Meredith of Turlock; a daughter, Elise Guedea of Cameron Park; sons, Jacob Groth of El Dorado Hills and Cameron and Royce Meredith, both of Turlock; a sister, Mary Ann Fowle of Havasu City, Ariz.; brothers, Chris Torres of Las Vegas and David Torres of Havasu City; and two grandchildren.
A private family service is scheduled. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow at Monte Vista Chapel in Turlock.

STRIEGEL James Ford Striegel III, 33, a former Columbia and Groveland resident, died Sunday in a boating accident in Fresno. A celebration of his life is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, Highway 68 at 1375 Josselyn Canyon Road in Monterey. Seaside Chapel is handling arrangements.
