Thelma Janett Waterman

Aug. 1, 1930 - May 18, 2004

Thelma Janett Waterman of Twain Harte died Tuesday at her home. She was 73.

She was born in Marysville and lived in Twain Harte for 16 years. She previously had lived in San Mateo for 25 years and worked as a secretary in Hayward for 15 years. She was the last of 10 siblings.

Her family said she loved dogs, cruising and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dennis Waterman of Twain Harte; a daughter, Debra Russell of Twain Harte; a granddaughter, Amanda Russell of Fresno; and her dogs, Lottie and Trouble.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora.

Margaret

(Skow) Michaud

July 31, 1910 - May 18, 2004

Longtime Groveland resident Margaret (Skow) Michaud died Tuesday at a San Mateo hospital. She was 93.

She was born in Denver and lived in Groveland for 29 years.

She worked as a sales associate for the Emporium Department Store in Menlo Park, San Mateo County, until she retired.

Her family said she was a skilled seamstress and was creative with crafts and sewing.

She loved crossword puzzles, neighbors, coffee on the deck and walking her best friend and poodle, Buddy, her family added.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Kathryn Michaud of Groveland and Terry and Lucia Michaud of Hillsborough, San Mateo County; a sister, Clara (Skow) Fletcher of Watsonville, Santa Cruz County; grandchildren, Sheri Gaskins of Wichita, Kan., Janay and Jonathan Michaud, both of Hillsborough, and Karen and Kristen Gardner, both of Groveland; and great-grandchildren, Vicki and Ben Saunders, both of Wichita, and Jonathan Gardner of Groveland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Michaud, in 1983.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Groveland.

Charles

A. Robinson

May 26, 1926 - May 19, 2004

Longtime Sonora resident the Rev. Charles A. Robinson died Wednesday at a Sonora hospital. He was 77.

He was born in San Pedro, Los Angeles County, and lived in Sonora for 34 years. He moved to the United States in 1945.

He was a prisoner of war three times during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1948-52.

He became a Christian in 1953 and was a missionary in Hawaii, Guam and the Philippines from 1954-58. He attended Bethany College of the Assemblies of God in Scotts Valley from 1958-62. He was married in 1963.

He was pastor at the Assembly of God Church in Westwood, Lassen County, from 1967-70, and at the Bethel Tabernacle, now known as Community Assembly of God, in Tuolumne from 1970-73.

He was a third- and fourth-grade teacher at Summerville Elementary School from 1973-90. He served as a chaplain (lt. colonel) with the State Military Reserve in 1981.

His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, building rock walls and being with his grandchildren, his family said.

The Rev. Robinson is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Robinson of Sonora; a daughter, Ellen Barrios of Sonora; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Andy" and Lesley Robinson of Sonora; a brother, Henry Robinson of Arizona; sisters, Aline and Velma Robinson and Ann Funderberg, all of Washington, and Mildred Castaneda and Evelyn Robinson, both of California; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Heuton Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at the chapel. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora.

C. Salmon

Aug. 23, 1948 - May 18, 2004

Nancy C. Salmon of Copperopolis died Tuesday at a Sonora hospital of natural causes. She was 55.

She was born in Oakland and lived in Copperopolis for two years. Her father served in the Navy so, as a child, she traveled all over the world. Her family later settled in Monterey.

She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years and volunteered with the Red Cross for many years, often moving and continuing to travel to foreign countries and military bases around the world.

She was an artist and painter, her family said, and a good cook, especially at cooking eggrolls.

She was involved in the Church of Christ and, her family said, was the best mom.

She is survived by her husband, John Salmon of Copperopolis; a daughter, Sarah Lightfoot of Sacramento; sons, Benjamin White of Sacramento and Adam and Jacob White of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Kelsey, Maleah and Ian Lightfoot, all of Sacramento; her father, Eugene Henry of Sonora; stepmother, Billie Henry of Sonora; and a sister, Lisa Hodell of Olympia, Wash.

A private family memorial service is scheduled.
