Lyle L. Kinder

March 28, 1929 - April 1, 2004

Former Twain Harte resident Lyle L. Kinder died April 1 at a Glendale, Ariz., care home. He was 75.

He was born in Nebraska and moved to California at age 5. He lived most of his life in Palo Alto. In 1952, he became a member of the Mountain House Ski Club at Dodge Ridge and moved to Twain Harte in 1984. He then became a Realtor and served on the Tuolumne County Board of Realtors and its various committees for several years.

He was associated with Century 21-Wildwood Properties, Inc., from 1986 to 1996, when he and his wife, Therese, moved to Pebble Creek, Ariz.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kinder is survived by his children and their spouses and families, Mike and Deena Kinder and Mickie Kinder, all of Twain Harte, Scott and Jody Kinder of Mountain View and Chris Kinder Fuhrman of Boise, Idaho.

Services were held at the Church of Litchfield Park in Litchfield, Ariz.

Harry M.

Durrie Jr.

July 28, 1917 - April 11, 2004

Longtime Murphys resident Harry M. Durrie Jr. died Sunday at a Manteca hospital. He was 86.

He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and had lived in Murphys for 25 years. He was a retired tugboat chief and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Murphys, life member of the Masonic Lodge in Alameda and received his 50-year pin in Murphys. He also was a member of Sons in Retirement.

Mr. Durrie is survived by his wife, Virginia "Jennie" C. Durrie of Murphys; and a sister, Jeanne Wagaman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the First Congregational Church in Murphys.

Ynes Sam Vega

April 20, 1923 - April 10, 2004

Ynes Sam Vega of Valley Springs died Saturday at a San Andreas hospital. He was 80.

Mr. Vega was born and raised in Los Angeles. He had three children with his first wife, Fran, and five more children with his second wife, Bernice Cortez. The family moved to San Jose in 1961, where he met many people who respected him, his family said.

His family added he was a lovable and kindhearted man.

Mr. Vega is survived by his wife, Bernice Vega of Valley Springs; children, David Vega of Valley Springs, Patrick and Danny Vega and Lillian Chronis, all of Los Angeles, Dolores Negrete and Virginia Souder, both of San Jose, Teresa Minatra of Pulaski, Tenn., and Victoria Mock of Morgan Hill; brothers, Lupe and Pete Vega, both of San Jose; sisters, Mary and Nallie Vega, both of San Jose; and 18 grandchildren.

Services were held yesterday.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


DUNCAN Robert E. Duncan, 91, of Jamestown died yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

FREY A service location for Pauline Renon Frey, 74, of Angels Camp has changed. Visitation is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. today at Angels Memorial Chapel. A rosary is scheduled at 7 tonight at the chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp. Burial is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. She died Saturday at a San Andreas hospital. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

TRYON A memorial concert to celebrate the life of Leona Katherina Tryon, 85, of Douglas Flat is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow at the First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) in Murphys. She died March 19 at a San Andreas hospital. Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
