Carlene Bernice Sanchez of Valley Springs died April 3 at her home of natural causes. She was 54.
She was born in Richmond, Wash., and lived in Valley Springs for three years. She worked as a sales representative and earned an associate's degree in culinary arts from South Seattle Community College. She was a member of the Episcopal church.
Her family said she was a devoted wife, mother and sister and did a lot for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Leandro Sanchez of Valley Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Daniel Goertz of Washington; stepchildren, Dustin Sanchez of Yuba City and Summer Sanchez of Las Vegas; sisters, Sheila Robino of Oxnard, Ventura County, Corless Hickey of Wichita, Kan., and Tami White of Lemoore; brothers, Butch Foreman of Oregon and Thomas Hickey of Renton, Wash.; and her father, Les Hickey of Redlands, San Bernardino County.
A requiem Mass was to be celebrated Saturday.

SHELTON Joe Shelton, 80, of Angels Camp died Friday at his home. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the church. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
