Seresa M. Candage

July 12, 1912 - March 19, 2004

Former longtime Sonora area resident Seresa M. Candage died Friday, March 19, at a Huntington Beach hospital. She was 91.

She was born on the Pala Mission Indian Reservation in Pala, San Diego County. She survived Pearl Harbor and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. She lived in the Sonora area for 50 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen K. James and Barbara L. Sutton; her close friends, Tim and Sandi Meagher and Norman and Sherri Rickson; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Harvey Cowen

Jan. 17, 1958 - March 21, 2004

Stephen Harvey Cowen of Twain Harte died unexpectedly Sunday, March 21, near Columbia. He was 46.

He was born in Tecate, Mexico, and grew up in Descanso, San Diego County. He moved to Twain Harte in 1987.

His family said he loved to draw and hunt. His main passions were his wife, children and grandchildren, his family added, and he called them his baseball team.

Mr. Cowen is survived by his wife, Melissa Cowen of Twain Harte; children, Michele Babbitt, Timothy Curtin, Dustin Silberman and Joshua Collier; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Marjorie Cowen.

Elizabeth Parker

June 4, 1909 - March 25, 2004

Longtime Angels Camp resident Ruby Elizabeth Parker died Thursday at a Sonora hospital. She was 94.

She was born in North Carolina and lived in Angels Camp for 50 years. She was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a longtime member of the Angels Camp Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She worked as an electrician during World War II. After the war, she went into nursing. She later married Silas Parker. They were married for more than 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Marie Matula, Louise Kammerer and Loraine "Loddie" McEachern, all of Angels Camp, and Annetta Chalstrom of Greenbrae, Marin County; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Abraham, in 1997; and her husband, Silas Parker, in 1998.

Visitation is scheduled from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at Angels Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Angels Camp Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial is scheduled at Altaville Protestant Cemetery in Altaville.

CAVAGNARO Paul John Cavagnaro, 36, of Valley Springs died Friday at a Modesto hospital from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. Visitation is scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. tomorrow at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in San Andreas. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the church. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

HENDRICKSON Mary Rose Hendrickson, 71, of Jamestown died Thursday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MAHONEY Leslie Mahoney, 80, of Sonora died yesterday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

NERI Keith Edward Neri, 23, of Tuolumne died Wednesday in Oakdale. Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home's Tuolumne Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Tuolumne United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Carters Cemetery. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
